Delightful family film ,if you have teenagers. Not for the under 12's - I would suggest - since the dialog is pretty meaningful. My 14 year old and her 18 year old friend both loved it, as did my wife. Tom Hanks was superb. Makes an innocuous subject, interesting. Emma thompson was genius at the role. Laced with the realities of life, and some sadness, that made one appreciate the happiness . Disney was an interesting guy.

Loved this show - Oscar Winning performances... we do have a personal connection with the move so it really took us close to home so may be hard to give an objective review... A little long for young kids, but anyone with a heart and love of history and great acting should go see this!

In spite of constant flashbacks that all but destroy the forward momentum of the story, this is an interesting account of the attempt to sign P.L. Travers and make the musical of her stories of Mary Poppins. But the real story here is much like a detective's mystery - why does Travers keep resisting Disney's efforts to get the rights of the story and what is the key to unlocking her resistance? The incessant flashes back to her childhood interfere with the telling of that story and cause the movie viewer to want to cry, "Get on with it!" at the screen. Still, the outstanding performances and the insight into how one of the great musicals ended up finally happening makes this film a must - if only - one time view.

Great story. Emma does a super job of making you dislike her from the start and then getting even worse until the end. You just want to rip her eyes out most of the time!! Walt Disney must have had extreme patience to work with someone like this.
