Surprisingly Touching

This movie was so much more than I expected. It is amazing how every life has a story. I will appreciate the Banks family so much more now. Even the flawed people in our life are special, important and worthy of our love. Being a fan of Mary Poppins makes this more special but everyone should see it.

One excellent movie that brought back good memories of seeing Mary Poppins for the first time as a young boy. Our kids and grand kids like the original, and I believe we will recommend they see this one also. We laughed, we cried, and we thoroughly enjoyed this movie!

Touching, and revealing account of the Mary Poppins' author struggling to keep the integrity of her character and fighting inner demons. Tom Hanks & Emma Thompson are superb!

The History of Mary Poppins

This was not a children's movie by any means, although I don't think it was advertised that way either. But for those of us who grew up watching and loving The Wonderful World of Disney, it was an interesting movie that helps you to better understand the man behind the magic. The story behind Mary Poppins was a revelation and will, perhaps, make it all the more endearing when watching it again. Worth seeing - you'll be glad you did.

Nicely done

This was very well done and a lot heavier at times than I was expecting at times. Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, Paul Giamatti and the rest of the cast were superb. Although it's a movie about the making of Poppins, it's not a movie for kids, really--nothing inappropriate, just not a movie geared toward kids. For those of us who grew up loving Poppins, this is a fascinating look into what it took to get the movie done. You come away feeling very sorry for Mrs. Travers in the end. Nicely done all the way around.
