Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz Fans...MUST GO!

I saw this movie because I love Simon Pegg's films. If you are a fan of "Shaun of the Dead" or "Hot Fuzz," I promise that you will not be let down. I thought the film looked cute enough, but was uncertain if it would be as good as the others. It was very funny! I was surprised that it was "a feel-good movie" too because that phrase normally makes me roll my eyes (I hate pointless tearjerkers,) but this movie was heartfelt without being hokey or lame. You have to see it!

    Nice Movie!

An out of shape security guard decides to run in a marathon to prove to a number of people, including his ex-girlfriend, her boyfriend, his son, etc. that he has changed and can finish something he started. It's pretty funny when he's in training and the race itself is exciting. This movie works because the characters are likable and relatable. Kind of a feel good movie.

Overlooked and unrerated due to other releases

    by

When i saw the new releases for the past of weekend of 3/29/08 my first thought was the movie 21. When i got to theatre every other person in town had the same idea, so i decieded to see this movie. I originally had plans to see this movie but not this weekend. When i saw the movie, i was glad and really grateful that i chose to sit through it. I had doubts but it turned out to be a great romantic comedy. I saw a thougtful movie of a man trying to find atonement from his long lost love. He had a great realtionship with his son and work around the estranged wifes new boyfriend. This movie has great humor, similar to the humor in Hot Fuzz and it didn't take away from the value of the movie in general. This is a good movie for people who want a simple yet unique to the traditional type of movie.

Especially hilarious if you?re a runner.

    by bob

If you?ve ever suffered through Marathon and have a sense of humor about it, this is the movie for you (especially, if you like English slapstick). Simon Pegg is very much his standard character; and Hank Azaria makes an excellent lovably-hateable bad guy. I'd sum up the movie as "The Full Monty" about a marathon, geared towards an under 50 crowd.

If You Liked "The Full Monty" You'll Probably Like This Movie

It was more of a romantic comedy than I expected, but even my husband found it funny. Much tamer than the other two Pegg movies, okay for older kids even. Hot Fuzz was awful, but this movie was funny and heartwarming. The kid is adorable! Good date movie that both of you can get something out of. Not as hilarious as Shaun of the Dead, but still worth seeing.

    Funny and Very Enjoyable

    by TPJR

There's not much to say about this one, being a sort of comedy/romatic-comedy. Can't really talk about FX, or action, but it had a lot of great moments in it. Very funny, and worth seeing. You'll probably even like it as much as your girlfriend for this type of movie...

    Predictable

    by

I love Simon Pegg and he is good, but the story is a bit sappy and predictable. It was not bad, though.

    A Marathon of Laughs

Run Fatboy Run was possibly one of the best comedies I have seen in quite a while. However, many people who I know have seen it, were let down. I think that it was all a matter of expectation. I was not expecting to get much out of the movie, but then it exceeded my expectations. My friends had expected something incredibly hilarious and over the top. The film, needless to say, did not live up to those expectations. I liked it most because it had a focus on the moral of the story and was not 100% focused on the humor, like most of Simon Pegg's other films. The story tells us that no matter how screwed up we are, we can change dramatically if we work hard enough to get there. There is an emphasis on that part of it that appealed to me. I do not necessarily want to say, "Go expecting something terrible so that it will exceed your expectations," but I would say, "Go expecting a good film and not just a long marathon of laughs."

    Cute Movie

    by TMapou

The movie was cute--not outstanding, but funny and entertaining. I'm a big fan of Hank Azaria, though he wasn't at his funniest here (nothing to do with his performance--it's just the type of role it was). The boy who played Simon Pegg's and Thandie Newton's son was adorable. Overall, I recommend it, though perhaps not as the first movie you should run out and see.

Its been awhile since there have been any good comedies out but this is one that truly shatters that wall. It's funny, clever, and loveable. I'm 14 and saw it with my friends and it was rockin. go see it silly.

    Great London locale...

I found this an excellent film - it had all the qualities that I enjoy. It's fun and lighthearted, yet has enough serious elements to take it above a children's movie. I've seen Simon Pegg's other two movies, and wish he would do more. This is really an underrated film and should receive wider distribution and more attention. It's one of the best things out there over the past several months. Great glimpse of London life with a fascinating diverse cast. I loved it, never a dull moment.

    fluffy badness

There isn't much to this flick that you wouldn't expect. It has some funny bits, and it has some gross out stuff that gets a chuckle. Over all it was pretty weak w.out much that was really truly hilariously funny.
Except maybe the cousin, he is great! Other than that...the rest of the cast was dissapointing. Particularly Hank Azaria. And I can not give any credit to David Schwimmer. The actors seemed to just being going through the motions. I know it's just a comedy, but you have to make us care enough to laugh. It felt like a paint by number movie. First scene...second scene...third scene....etc, etc. No real connection between what just happened and what was coming up next. It felt like there should have been a drum and snare at each bad joke...bad dum dum. In case you forgot to laugh, that was supposed to be funny. Go back into hiding Mr.Schwimmer. We don't miss you on screen, and we REALLY won't miss you behind the lens.

Simon...you were so good in your own movies!
