Well, so much for the folks who thought all those negative reviews might impact New Moon's opening box office. Variety tells us that The Twilight Saga: New Moon has shattered records and set box office history by grossing an astonishing $26 million in midnight showings alone. The latest installment in the teen vamp franchise easily beat the previous record-holder, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which grossed $22.2 million earlier this summer.

Yes, there are three new films in wide release this weekend, but I think we're gonna skip our usual Who Will Win The Box Office Poll because, well, I think it's pretty obvious which film will win the weekend. But just how much The Twilight Saga: New Moon makes is an entirely different story. At this same time back in 2008, Twilight opened in theaters to the tune of $69 million. The film eventually went on to gross a whopping $383 million worldwide, and there's a pretty good chance New Moon could beat that.

In addition to the 10 new photos from The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Summit Entertainment has released the first official clip from the film online via iTunes, with a tantalizing introduction by Taylor Lautner. In the clip (which you can watch in HD here or below), Bella squares off against the shirtless wolf pack, becoming so enraged at one point that she goes so far as to slap one of the boys across the face. This, of course, wasn't the smartest course of action, since within seconds the shirtless boy transforms into a giant angry wolf, capable of tearing Bella to shreds in, oh, about 2.4 seconds.

* 94% have read the entire TWILIGHT series.

* 68% of fans first became aware of the TWILIGHT saga while the first movie was in theaters; 32% were fans of the book series before the first movie was released.

* 95% have faith that Chris Weitz will do a good job in telling the story of NEW MOON.

* 93% have seen NEW MOON trailers online.

* 77% say the action scenes in NEW MOON are a main draw; while 98% say the action glimpsed in the NEW MOON trailers looks more exciting than the action in TWILIGHT.

* 53% plan on seeing NEW MOON at midnight; 26% plan to see it sometime on opening day; 21% plan to see it sometime during opening week or thereafter.

* 79% plan to see it with a group of three friends or more.

* 83% are on Team Edward; 17% are on Team Jacob.

The first images from the Seattle set of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse have made their way online…and it's a smoocher! Yes, Eclipse was filming a scene under a Seattle bridge last night, and while it didn't include Bella or Edward, we do have our first look at Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria. You'll remember that Howard replaced Rachelle Lafevre in the role due to scheduling conflicts a few weeks ago, and that casting move sparked a war of words between the actress and the studio – with each side claiming they were right and the other was wrong.

Right now, he's on crunch time, working the fastest he's ever worked to hit his deadlines, and have the film ready for release this November. 'Eclipse' Nabs its King – While the entire universe awaits the full New Moon trailer (which will arrive in front of Bandslam in theaters on Friday and online shortly thereafter), the next film in The Twilight Saga is busy gearing up production. Today it was announced that Jack Huston (nephew of Anjelica and Danny) has nabbed the role of Royce King II in the third installment. He joins Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Bryce Dallas Howard and Taylor Lautner in the film, due in theaters June 30, 2010.

Summit just announced New Moon's full-length theatrical trailer will hit theaters with the release of Bandslam this Friday, Aug. 14. It’s a smooth move for Summit since ‘Bandslam’ seems like a movie right up Twihard alley, with Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) starring. She was at one time rumored to be cast as Leah in the Twilight Saga.

For those of you who just can’t wait to get their Team Jacob/Edward fix, a 14-second tease of the new trailer will be airing nationwide, tomorrow. We'll be posting the tease as soon as Summit delivers the files, so check back around 9 a.m. PST to take a look. The adolescent vampire drama dominated Sunday's ceremony with 11 wins, including choice movie drama, romance, liplock, rumble and soundtrack. According to TMZ, a 21-year-old girl named Jordan Scott claims Twilight author Stephanie Meyer plagiarized her 2006 book The Nocturne after finding too many similarities in Meyer's 2008 book Breaking Dawn, which was the final installment in her ridiculously popular Twilight series. On our New Moon Vancouver set visit, we met up with Rachelle Lefevre, who plays Victoria, a vampire hell-bent on killing Bella for the death of her lover. She spent the day with her little sister, showing her around and introducing her to the other actors. When we caught up with her, she seemed genuinely excited for her role – and her future part in Eclipse.

They don't call it The Twilight Saga for no reason, as some major behind-the-scenes drama has developed over the past 24 hours as the franchise's third installment, Eclipse, nears the start of production later next month. It all started innocently enough when it was announced that actress Bryce Dallas Howard was replacing Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria in Eclipse after the latter actress played the part for the first two films. Around this same time last year, not too many people knew who Taylor Lautner was. He showed up for 2008's San Diego Comic-Con Twilight panel, but everyone was busy fawning over the British bloke who made all the girls squeal every time he opened his mouth. Lautner's come a long way since then as the fan-proclaimed mascot of Team Jacob, and this time, New Moon shines the spotlight on him.

This ridiculously buff 17-year-old wasn't afraid to joke around with us—he has a contagious, giddy laugh and energetic persona that embodies Stephenie Meyer's coming-of-age werewolf. We stole a few minutes with him in the Vancouver Film Studios during our New Moon set visit and chatted about his Michael Phelps diet, favorite scenes and perspective on Jacob.
