It's off to a good start, taking in $13.5 million in advance screenings and another $47 million internationally.

The grey carpet premiere was held this past Wednesday in Hollywood with Star Trek cast members from the J.J. Abrams' franchise joined legendary Trek stars Levar Burton and Leonard Nimoy. And then there was Kate Beckinsale who walked the carpet with husband/director Len Wiseman.

If you're thinking/hoping Beckinsale has a cameo in Into Darkness, we're sorry to disappoint you. As a consolation, scroll down to see one of Hollywood's prettiest stars shine at the Star Trek premiere.

I ask in response to a new report in The Daily Mail claiming that producers of the Bond franchise are in “informal talks” with Nolan about possibly filling the vacancy left by Skyfall helmer Sam Mendes.

“It does no harm for [Bond producers] Broccoli and Wilson to talk with Nolan, even if nothing happens this time round,” a source tells the newspaper.

But even in that age of optimism, it was hard to believe that a low-rated science fiction TV show (that elevated the genre out of the kiddie realm by wrapping smart, mature morality plays and sharply drawn characters in shiny forward-thinking outer space trappings) could somehow create the foundations of both a franchise and a philosophy that would endure for nearly 50 years.

My mission, to go boldly where I've never gone before – watch all 11 previous Star Trek movies and then take in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness. Is the odd/even rule true? Here's how it went. (And if you've missed any of these, beware of some spoilers.)

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

What It's About: This is not only the first Star Trek feature film, but also, as the title suggests, the first one I have ever seen (and same goes for the Star Trek television series). This tedious film functions as a sci-fi mystery as Admiral Kirk resumes command of the Starship Enterprise in order to intercept and hopefully stop a destructive space entity.

Favorite Moment: The big reveal of just what exactly...

Read Comments

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/newbie-watches-all-star-trek-movies-heres-how-that-went-738406.html?wssaffid=11841&wssac=123

Fandango Movie Blog

Morgan Freeman, Robert DeNiro Party It Up in 'Last Vegas' Teaser Trailer, While 'Hangover 3' Drops Red-Band

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/?wssaffid=11841&wssac=123#738402

If you're setting a course to see Star Trek Into Darkness this weekend (or if you journeyed out into the darkness for midnight/fan sneak show last night), you're going to get a dose of Morgan Freeman, Robert DeNiro, Kevin Kline and Michael Douglas.

No they're not appearing in cameos in Star Trek. Rather, the teaser trailer for their comedy Last Vegas will be attached to the slate of previews that include Man of Steel, Despicable Me 2, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and World War Z.

The simplest way to describe this movie is that it's the old man version of The Hangover. The film follows three (literally and figuratively) old friends as they throw a bachelor party in Vegas for their last remaining single friend.

Also, how can we not talk about Star Trek Into Darkness -- I mean, c'mon! Expect a non-spoilerish chat about what we thought of this sequel to J.J. Abrams' 2009 reboot, as well as whether the film holds clues to what Abrams has planned for his Star Wars sequel next.
