Both ladies will star in a film called The Danish Girl, which is based on David Eberschoff's novel and will be directed by Tomas Alfredson, who wowed audiences last year with his vampire flick Let the Right One In.

In The Danish Girl, Paltrow (who just signed on, replacing Charlize Theron after the actress ditched the project for unspecified reasons) will play Greta, a portrait painter in 1920s Denmark who, in need of a model, asked her husband Elnar (Kidman) to dress up in women's clothes. Elnar liked "being" a woman so much that he began living as one named Lili, who Greta...

Read Comments

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/nicole-kidman-and-gwyneth-paltrow-to-playlovers-585515.html?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841

Fandango Movie Blog

Funny or Lame: Taylor Swift's SNL 'Twilight' Spoof

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841#585514

If you managed to catch Saturday Night Live over the weekend, then you probably watched this week's host, Taylor Swift, poke a little fun at Twilight in a parody trailer for a film called Firelight. Here, instead of a girl falling deeply in love with a vampire, Swift plays a girl who, aside from biting her lip, like, a lot, falls for Frankenstein. Oh yes, when "The Franks" invade a small town high school, things take a drastic turn for the weird as our heroine does all she can to keep her relationship with Frankenstein going without being accidentally strangled by her one true love.
I thought the spoof was cute, and Swift definitely deserves kudos for turning out a pretty hilarious performance – not just in this video, but throughout the entire episode. But what do you...

Read Comments

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/funny-or-lame-taylor-swifts-snl-twilight-spoof-585514.html?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841

Fandango Movie Blog

Want to Have Your Name on the 'Paranormal Activity' DVD?

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841#585491

You came. You saw. You kicked its ghostly ***. Well, sorta. At the very least, Paramount would like to thank you, all the Paranormal Activity fanatics out there, for helping the 'little fright movie that did' garner nearly almost practically $100 million at the box office (expect that notch to fall here quick). It is official, though, P.A. is the most profitable return on an investment ($15,000 to produce, a few million here and there to promote, and gazillions of dollars in return) in the history of cinema.
So now that you've had the bejesus scared out of you over and over, the studio has offered to put your name (yes, you!) in the credits on the DVD, for helping to support the cause. All you have to do is register your name on their site before Monday, 11/9 at noon pacific, and bam...

Read Comments

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/want-to-have-your-name-on-paranormal-activity-dvd-585491.html?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841

Fandango Movie Blog

You Pick the Hottest Story of the Week!

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841#585486

Welcome back Fandango Fanatics to another installment of You Pick the Hottest Story of the Week – the game that pulls aside five scorching hot news stories and asks you to vote on which one you think deserves to be singled out and showered with hottest-story-of-the-week praise. Here are this week's contenders:

Oscar Hosts Announced – After a lengthy search in which folks like Hugh Jackman, Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. turned down the gig, actors Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin accepted the role of Oscar co-hosts for Hollywood's biggest night, which airs on March 7, 2010. The duo, who combined hosted a total of 29 SNL episodes, should give us a fabulous (and hilarious) night full of singing, dancing and statues. [Read More]

The Box
What's the Scoop: James Marsden and Cameron Diaz star in this retro-style thriller about a couple who receive a mysterious box from an even more mysterious stranger along with a set of enticing-yet-deadly instructions.
Why It Might Win the Weekend: Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly is behind this film (his most commercial to date), so expect his large fan base to populate theaters along with those curious enough to find out what...

Read Comments

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/box-office-who-will-win-weekend-116118-585482.html?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841

Fandango Movie Blog

'Precious' Exclusives

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841#585481

In case you're looking for something different than the average blockbuster at this weekend's box office, be sure to check out the just released Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. It was the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award winner at this year's Sundance Film Festival, and has been greatly championed by media giants Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey.
While its tale of an obese, illiterate, sexually abused 16-year-old may sound awfully grim, it's also a story about the hope Precious Jones (Gabourey Sidibe) discovers through her relationship with a teacher (Paula Patton) at an alternative school.

This time around Emmerich isn't using his big budget to fight aliens or global warming – instead, 2012 shows us what happens when the ancient Mayan prophecy springs to life and the world actually comes to an end in the year 2012. Yeah, in case you couldn't tell, this one's a bit of a downer.
But that's not stopping Emmerich, writer Harold Kloser and producer Mark Gordon from wanting to extend 2012 to the small screen for a tie-in TV series about what happens after the world is destroyed. Entertainment Weekly reports that all those involved are strongly considering the television spin-off, and even ABC is looking into possibly using this show to replace Lost, which heads into...

Read Comments

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/poll-would-2012-tv-series-be-too-depressing-585474.html?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841

Fandango Movie Blog

The Five: Must-See Movies in November

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/?wssac=123&wssaffid=11841#585473

In these tough economic times it's hard to decide which movies to spend your hard-earned dollars on, which is why I've come along at the beginning of the month to save the day (kinda like Superman, only slightly overweight and balding) by giving you a list of five must-see movies hitting theaters at some point over the next 30 days. A Christmas Carol (November 6th)
