Confusing start. Too many things going on, without any attempt to make you really care about any of the characters. The only character I ended caring about was the droid K-2SO. Great little cameos from the franchise. Speaking of which, that what it feels like, a franchise. Someone buying the rights to something, without actually caring about the rich heritage of Star Wars universe. But if your looking for a fun action flick this wasn't so bad.

I used to think Empire was the best Star Wars movie until I saw Rouge One. The story line was top notch and it just made sense to answer a lot of questions that led to A New Hope. I'm going to see this about 3 more times during the Christmas holiday!

Originally Written December 16, 2016 -- Former scientist Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) lives on a farm with his wife and young daughter, Jyn. His peaceful existence comes crashing down when the evil Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) takes him away from his beloved family to work on a weapon of immense power. Many years later, Galen is now the Empire's lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to its destruction, a vengeful Jyn (Felicity Jones) joins forces with Rebel spy Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and other resistance fighters to steal the space station's plans for the Rebel Alliance. Wow! What an incredible film! For the first time in Star Wars cinematic history, we get a story that leads directly into another Star Wars film; in this case, the original 1977 masterpiece. The words we read in that iconic crawl almost 40 years ago, “Rebel spies steal the Death Star plans,” is exactly the story that “Rogue One” shows us. And it is incredible! We get a film that truly shows the horror of the galactic war that has been going on throughout the galaxy and how desperate the Rebel Alliance is to gain a victory. So many amazing surprises and “Star Wars” Easter eggs are sprinkled throughout “Rogue One,” but the best part is that this is the prequel all “Star Wars” fans have been dying to see. Two thumbs way, way up!

Sorry but this is just a Star Wars "Heist" movie, with very strange dialog. 5.5-6/10 at best.

I went into this movie excited for what could be. And in certain respects, it delivers in grand fashion. But toward the middle it starts to bog itself down. There's so many characters and locations that you being to wonder if you are being "batted around" by the script. But that's right about the time the plot cleans up. As for notable appearances, all I can say is oh yes, it has them. And K-2SO has some great parts. The Empire villains are well played and make you detest them for good reason. The battle scenes are intense, in your face, and deliver. One aerial fight scene in particular was "momentous" in my opinion. In closing, yes, character development could have been more, but it rides along with action in the same vehicle to a spine-tingling ending. The ending left me with a somewhat satisfied feeling that this movie did right by the series and was a thrill to watch. A fun part of the exciting "Star Wars" saga.
