This movie hi-jacked a revisit of 80's music and instead pedaled soft porn. It was embarrassing to be in the theatre audience and was a disgrace for Katie Holmes and Tom's career. Don't fall for the misleading trailers.

I could totally remember those days. I am 50+ so I laughed alot. I kept thinking that I hope I was not that funny back in those days. The hair , the clothes, the drinking, dancing, all of it was totally relatible. Denise

great movie! maybe didn't blow me away like Chicago but if you like musicals and love rock or grew up in that era you will LOVE it! everyone was great but Tom Cruise really stood out. He can really sing and looks amazing! Loved all the songs too. Great summer movie!

It might not be Oscar worthy, but "Rock of Ages" was definitely a fun ride. The music was super and both my husband and I were blown away over Tom Cruise's portrayal of Stacee Jax. He was fantastic and can he ever sing!
If one wants to escape the normal routine, go see this movie. However, leave the kids at home because it is sexually suggestive, drug and alcohol charged and pretty raunchy.

Since I was in my twenties during the eighties this show brought back a lot of memories. How anyone could fail to realize that this show is a 'musical' is beyond me, and it does a good job for the genre. Yes, the cast breaks into song constantly and in the seemingly weirdest places under the most unlikely circumstances - but that is what a musical does! It features MUSIC and lots of it! It isn't drama - it isn't Shakespeare - it is ROCK! Yes, it was cheesy, raunchy, sexual, low on major dialogue, etc. but it was a fun, feel good type movie that especially if you know the songs it will have you rocking along. Cruise did a great job - I was both fascinated and amazed (and sometimes creeped out) by his performance. He was the stereotypical 'rock god'! The best advice is to just not think - just go with the flow and enjoy the show/music. I found it to be very entertaining!
