More of a musical than a movie, but very funny at times. It reminded me of a Saturday Nite Live skit. Acting is not great at times.

I was really not expecting this to be a musical where they broke out into song like Glee. But that's what it is. Just like from the 1940s and 1950s. Everyone sings very well but I really thought the movie was lifted to another level by Tom Cruise's awesome performance. He was really spot on for the nutty, addled-brain rocker type. He was hysterical and his sidekick Heyman was perfect! They were worth the price of admission. Cruise continues to impress me with his movie part choices. Definitely glad I saw it.

This was a fantastic movie musical. Full of great music from the 80's - you can't help but tap your toes & sing along...well.. lip sync since you are in a theatre full of people! The story line isn't THE most interesting, but moves along. The choreography was top notch (Thank you Mia), the costumes & hairstyles were typical - right-on 80's,as well as the lingo. Very humerous. Tom Cruise...Wow!! I don't "normally" like him as an actor, but I must admit he was excellent in this movie. Couldn't have played the part any better & no one would have been better for the part. I do have to give credit where credit is due. His performance is Oscar worthy. He had this role down to a tee. Axl Rose-ish - with the bandana, arching his back when he sang (which was pretty decent too). My kids said it was an OK movie (they weren't living in the 80's to appreciate it, my hubby hates musicals so I'm not sure why he came along, but I say if you love the 80's & a campy love story YOU MUST GO SEE IT!

As a child of the 80's this film was just pure joy for me! I sang along to every single song and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was exactly what I expected it to be and I thought it was perfectly cast all the way around. I was truly impressed with Tom Cruise though, I had no idea he could sing!

The story in the movie is different then the story in the musical in a couple of key areas. Overall it is still very entertaining. And as much as it pains me to say this, Tom Cruise does a great job in the role of Stacey Jaxx.
