    Mildly Interesting

The highlight of the movie was his mom's lover. Some of the best portrayal of that most painful first breakup, for sure!

Rocket Science -- A Good 1 hr. 38 mIn. -- and Probably Worth a Second Viewing

An interesting quirky film with some great characters -- some all too real high school moments -- and some very funny scenes. Well written, well-acted, well-directed. This is not the standard "kid overcomes his problems and wins great victories" film -- and in that sense is all the more worth watching. Saw it with my kids -- 16 and 20 -- and they both liked it a lot.

    Rocket Science

This is a small, quirky and fun movie. Keep your expectations in check (this is not a blockbuster) and enjoy the story as it unfolds. Great acting performances.

    Quirk

Rocket Science is the embodiment of all that has gone wrong with certain indie films lately. They try so hard to be quirky that they simply forget about cohesive story. Rocket Science was lacking in any emotional weight. The main character's affliction was blown so far out of proportion that it was simply unbelievable. The narration was so conceited and self aware with statements like, "It was Thursday. Could've been any day. But it was Thursday." Gee, how deep. The only redeeming quality of the entire film was the performance of Anna Kendrick, who showed so much maturity 4 years ago in the film, Camp. She exudes the same confidence here and literally steals every scene she's in. If only the rest of the cast could've followed suit.
