    RIse of the Guardians 3D

    by cailynq

I so wanted to love this movie...but unfortunately there are too many issues with it to move past my disappointment. This film is best left to the under 9-yrs-old set who will love the witty (re-hashed 1000X plot lines/twists/music) dialogue and fun characters they have not met before.

For parents, I recommend paying the sitter to take the kids!

    Rise of the Guardians 3D

This movies was AMAZING!!!!!!! I loved it so much I am going to go see it again soon but this time with a friend so she can get the same experience. I went with my family to see it for the first time and even they liked it. This animation is very good and entertaining it makes you find out who you really are and how important that is when dealing with others who try to do harm to you and to others this is a good lesson for kids and teens to know but overall this movie was an excellent movie and it was what I paid for.

    Fantastic Movie!

I dragged my 14 year-old son to see this because I wanted to see it so badly. He hasn't stopped thanking me and said it was the "most magical movie he's ever seen." The 3D was visually stunning and overall, the film had a fantastic story. You won't regret seeing this beautiful movie.

Speaks to the little child in all of us :-)

This was a very enjoyable movie. It was avenger-like, but adorable and funny and taught a valuable lesson. No awkward revelations here! :-) I will be sure to add this to my DVD collection.

    Pretty good

    by ortleib

Cool movie, but don't go if you think your kids may get freaked by seeing Santa Claus fighting demons with two long knives, or the Easter Bunny being a 6-foor Aussie wielding a couple of boomerangs. Can be confusing for the little ones. Arthur Christmas nailed the quirky holiday humor better in my opinion.

    Rent it

This was definitely a different kids' movie. I loved the premise - a fairly tough Santa, an Australian Easter Bunny with a boomerang, Jack Frost trying to accept his past - but the movie was dark. The boogeyman was somewhat scary, but not so much that little kids can't go. My five year old liked the fight scenes and the characters were interesting, but not at all endearing. There is virtually no comedic aspects of this movie and the one female character, the Toothfairy (not so adorably nicknamed "Tooth") was not tough, and the "tough" Sandman is just strange. Rise of the Guardians is a great movie in theory, but misses the mark - the tough characters aren't tough enough and the comedy isn't funny enough, if there at all. Overall, high expectations, so-so delivery.

Fun Fantasy with Good Story for Kids

This movie caught my eye when the trailer was shown and my Husband and I took our 11 year old son to see this on Thanksgiving. Very animated, clean storyline for kids, and very well done. I enjoyed it from start to finish. We saw it in 3D and I think it would have been OK to see without it, but we enjoyed it all the same. For young age children who still believe, and for us adults who believe in the spirit of things, this movie is a must see, I can't wait for the DVD so I can buy it. This one is a keeper...Please make a part II~

    meh

if eggs aren't hidden then there is no Easter?
Not the lesson I want my kid to learn.
Remember Whoville? No presents, yet they still sang. THEY got it. Christmas and Easter are not about presents and eggs!! (and I'm not even talking about Jesus here, but I think devout Christians would shat themselves at this movie!)

Beautiful! Not perfect, but certainly entertaining

    by

First - this is beautiful animation. Major kudos to the studio - it's impressive, especially the "sand" effects. Second - OMG, the voice cast!!! Chris Pine is perfect for Jack Frost, I had NO idea it was Alex Baldwin voicing North (Santa), and Hugh Jackman as the Aussie Easter Bunny cracked me up over and over. Add Jude Law as Pitch Black (the Boogey Man), who really made the character creepy and elegant, in the best tradition of a Disney villain. Excellent. I must say, even stuck in a theatre PACKED with children, very little distracted me from the screen. The film has moments of treacle, but kids tend to eat that up. There's plenty here for adults to enjoy (obviously, since the dad behind me refused to go out during the movie to get soda for his whiny son, who insisted that HE didn't want to miss any of the movie. Neither did your dad, kiddo!!). If you want to spend 1.5 hours being charmed and reminded of the days when you were a child and believed in magic, GO.

    A new holiday tradition?

When my kids wanted to go, I was skeptical. I thought it might be another one of the forgettable, lightweight animated holiday movies that seem to come out every year. That wasn't the case.

This is a great little holiday movie that's good for the whole family. It's innocent enough for the little ones, but has enough edge for the older kids. I think my daughter is beginning to wonder if there's a Santa, but this movie shows how important it is to believe.

Dreamworks has always played second fiddle to Disney and Pixar, but this movie is every bit as good as Wreck-it-Ralph or Brave, and in some ways it's better than both. I wouldn't be surprised if "Rise of the Guardians" becomes a new holiday tradition.

    Cute Flick

Saw this with my teenagers, and we really enjoyed it. Good story, terrific animation, 3D was nice but not overwhelming. We payed full price, and it was worth it for the 3D effects.

    Visually stunning, smart family fun!

This was beautiful to watch. The look of the film is crisp and vivid . The 3D effects definitely enhance the experience, rather than distract from it.
The writing is smart and the pace is fast. My 8 and 10 year olds never moved or peeped during this one, and it really was over before even I knew it.
And stick around after the first round of credits, fun stuff!

    Worth going too

Took my Father (82), sister and her twins (6), my wife and myself to see this. We had a great time. The story moves along well and the animation was fantastic! I would definitely go.

Enjoyed the afternoon with my grandchildren. I enjoyed the show and I know they had a great time! The show had a great story line for children and kept their interest throughout the whole movie.
