Had I not seen any other RiffTrax offerings, or never watched MST3K, I probably would have been convulsed with laughter. This one had its moments. The "spade" and Scooby-Doo comments had me in hysterics. NOTLD is still respected by many as a "classic" and not a "really bad movie," the latter being usually what the boys target. I had never seen NOTLD (bizarre, since I was a teen when that movie came out), because I thought it would be "too scary." Of course, it wasn't. There were enough of their standard on-target barbs, though, to keep the (full) theatre laughing. I don't know that it'd be suitable for little kids, but certainly the middle school set on up. MST3K was a mainstay of family life when my kids were growing up (and they continue to be MST3K/RiffTrax aficionados as adults). I saw the movie with a Romero devotee, and he went reluctantly, lest he see his hero besmirched and adulterated by riffing. He liked it. I'll never miss one of their shows!

I'm a very big MSTie, always have been, so my review will always be a bit biased towards the guys, this was their ninth 'live' riffing event, and I'll give it a solid 3.5 out of 5. For me, the best jokes and the best gags end up being repetitive jokes, the ones that you can bring up over and over again, it just seems to be the bread and butter of a good riff. Night of the Living Dead didn't seem to have very many opportunities for these jokes, and I could tell the guys were struggling to find things to say. That being said, I am still very much looking forward to their live riffing of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Should be great!

Before you go to see this film, understand that what you're getting is the original
Night of the Living Dead film, being ripped to shreds by the MST3K guys. If you know that going into it, you're well prepared.
That being said, I had some slight trepidation before I saw the film, wondering if the guys had managed to keep their comedic wits sharp in the time since MST3K left the airwaves. But have no fear, they're as sharp as ever, and this film was a riot! The Burbank theater was a packed house and the audience wholeheartedly agreed with my take on the material because as the laughter revealed, we all enjoyed an evening of side splitting fun!

This was so entertaining, the 3 guys from Rifftrax are so talented, so funny, and so entertaining, especially Mike!
I never have seen that movie all the way through, but those guys made it so funny, it was so enjoyable. Leave it to the Rifftrax guys to make zombies hysterical!
I would highly recommend anyone to attend one of their "special live events"!
