Visually entralling, but weak on plot.

I saw it on/in Imax 3-D. I have to agree with many of the other reviews I have read here: this installment is better than the last 2, but too flawed to stand alongside of the earliest installment(s) of the series. On the strong side: There are some very stylized/engaging visual sequences. The first 10 minutes + some other scenes were artfully rendered--almost like a avant-garde Samurai movie. The soundtrack was impressive. Yes,lots of explosions, but also many eerie/sad/powerful melodies that infused scenes with a sort of dark, ominous grace (reminiscent of Matrix,Dark City,or Inception). If you are a long-time series fan, you'll like the (re)appearance of many familiar faces. The negative(s): WEAK writing and plot. Whenever you need a character to tell Alice (so as to tell the audience) where they were and what's supposed to happen next, it's sloppy story telling and writing. Alice had supposedly lost her superpowers, but yet she kicks, jumps and acts the same--really??

A far cry from the other Resident Evil movies

We were so excited to see this movie in the IMAX. Resident Evil is my wife's favorite movie series. We thought that it started out pretty well for maybe the first 10 or 15 minutes, but it quickly went downhill from there. We left the theatre feeling so disappointed in this one and almost wanted our money back. Poor acting plagued this film, but I think poor producing is really what killed it along with very poor attention to detail and a badly written storyline. This is the one Resident Evil movie that we are not likely to own down the road. Come on Hollywood - try a little harder next time!

See it in IMAX only

Go for the IMAX presentation because there's nothing else to recommend. There's no plot, really no characterizations, nada. Good action and neat visuals abound, but that's all, folks.

LOVED it! Husband and I went to the midnight showing. I was afraid I might fall asleep but it definitely kept me awake. In my opinion it is not a kids movie (13 & under).

IT SEEMS TO NEVER END. IT IS TOTALLY PREDICTABLE WITH A FEW TWIST. YOU GET TIRED OF EVERYONE THAT ALICE EVEN LIKES GETS KILLED. THIS ONE IS FAST MOVING LIKE THE OTHERS BUT WITH WAY LESS PLOT. THEY THINK THAT 3D IS GOING TO IMPROVE IT BUT IT IS A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY TO WATCH IT IN 3D ON ANY LEVEL I KNOW ANOTHER ONE IS COMING SO I WILL WAIT AND RENT IT BECAUSE THIS SERIES IS ONLY GOING DOWN HILL FAST
