    Original buzz:

    Brilliant

How Christian can be so bright? He is able to become any character and do you think is true, it is very hard work but it improves, will not be a great movie but the actors make the movie something spectacular

    A little choppy, but good

    by MongrolMan

The screenplay can be a little laggy at times during the slower times, but if you enjoy war movies then you'll like this POW movie.

Great Movie - a shame more didn't see it

    by Miss-Paige

This film came out at a time when all the summer blockbusters were taking the audiences and that's a real shame because this is a very good film. Christian Bale should have been nominated for this performance. All the actors did a terrific job and the story was told with a haunting echo. Very well done indeed. Rent it if you missed it while seeing all the 3-quels over last summer.

    Very Good

    by cjtolmie

I am not a big war movie fan, especially the Vietnam war, as most of the films are extremely depressing. However I found this movie to be very watchable and very good. Bale was excellent as were all the actors in this film. I highly recommend, for war movie fans and for fans of a good suspense film.

A Surprise New A List Actor

Christian Bale is a rising star, did an excellent performance, and I couldn't leave that unsaid. But the surprise to me (besides the movie being excellent overall - including Werner Herzog's direction) was Steve Zahn. Like the SNL comic Tom Hanks surprised us, like Steve Carell (played Brick in Anchorman and The 40-Year Old Virgin) surprised us, like Jamie Fox amazed me, Will Smith, and other light, comic supporting actors have surprised us with their breakout awesome, amazing talent, I was pleasantly amazed that the star from such movies as Super Troopers and Saving Silverman (I think) did an ABSOOLUTELY AMAZING BREAKOUT PERFORMANCE. If anyone who knows Steve sees this, please pass on to him.

Steve Zahn was goose-bump, make-a-grown-man-shed-a-tear, amazing in this. I did not take him seriously as an actor. But he is now a star. EXCELLENT, AMAZING. SOMEONE PLEASE NOMINATE HIM FOR BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR. See this movie.
