A masterwork of a western and quite possibly one of John Wayne's finest hour are two very good reasons to unearth this 1948 classic about a ruthless cattle baron who clashes with an adopted son ( Montgomery Clift in his first motion picture ). Stunning photography ( after some creaky opening sequences with bad rear projection ) and marvelous set pieces throughout this mammoth epic about the first major cattle drive through the famous Chisholm Trail.
