Lots of fairly believeable action. Not a cinematic masterpiece, but quite entertaining. Also it is sobering in that if forces one to face the fact that our way of life actually rests on rather fragile underpinnings, and cannot be taken for granted. It doesn't surprise me that the critics don't like the movie; they disapprove of anything violent, or what they perceive as mindless patriotism. They tend to be generally "progressive".

If you want to see a movie just to see a movie then see this one. Don't get me wrong - it was entertaining but as with a lot of movies in the semi-patriotic, hurray for our team genre this one stretches reality and has the typical plot lines. I saw this movie with another guy friend and it was fun enough for a saturday at the movies but that is the jest of it.

poor acting; zero character development; poor directing...
while the original was ambitious...it benefited from having some young actors that delivered....
and the directing gave a broadness and depth to the fighting and what was at stake....this 'remash' does none of this....
save your money!!!!

Being a fan of the original movie with Patrick Swayze, Erin Grey, Thomas C. Howell; I was excited to see it remade with today's graphics and special effects.
I was SO disappointed. It was full of action, the actors were good, but the storyline was.....well there was none. It ruined the whole movie. Then when they tried to developed a storyline they went with the most implausible, cheesy one they would find. I mean, they went out of their way to make it bad. It was a waste of my night!

Like the first Red Dawn, this one is inspiring with a lot of action. I enjoyed it even though I couldnt' figure out how the bad guys, the North Koreans, could have invaded the north west coast and taken over? I understand Russia and/or China doing that but North Korea? I guess they couldn't use Islam or Russia as the primary villians.
