Red Dawn

This version was much better than the first. It was well written. Even though I'd seen the first version and knew the story and characters, there was still suspense. This version connected on a more emotional level than the first. The acting was much better than the first. I hadn't planned on going to see it at the theater, but I'm glad I did. It's worth it, even if you saw the first one. I think this may the first remake that I actually like better than the first.

Decent, but it compares poorly to the original

The movie was entertaining even with some technical problems with the plot and development of the story. The original was not the best movie ever made but it did a better job with developing the characters and story. It was just more believable

I really liked it; big fan of the original. Although I thought it was really good, I thought it was a bit rushed. The original allowed you to get to know the characters better. This one was just action packed with a bit of an unrealistic viewing. I'd see it again though.

I don't even know why this remake was made. This movie was just terrible. From the lack of character building, the lukewarm plot, and the horrible ending speech. If I wasn't waiting on my meal, since I saw this at fork & dine in Grapevine, I would have walked out. Moreover, come on Hollywood, there are too many great upcoming writers out here. Please, give them a chance, so that the American people can see fresh, new exciting movies again.

Not disappointed

I liked it! I'd recommend seeing it. It's not the original, much more urban combat. And it's more action oriented where the original was more dramatic tension. That's not to say it's bad, I wasn't disappointed (But keep in mind that I set my expectations really low; I feel you have to whenever you see a remake.) I could see quite easily the original characters being in these kind of situations. The names were the same. The characters were similar. There was enough different that it wasn't predictable. Oh, and the invasion actually began at dawn, which made more sense considering the title. :D
