Not Happy

Should have never done a remake of this classic. Bad acting and b list actors make this a waste of your time and money. If you have to see this wait for DVD. Rating 3 out of 10.

Wolverines!!!

My 18 y/o son and I REALLY liked this movie. As both of us are huge fans of the original, (I saw it in the theaters) we went in with mixed emotions. Boy were we pleased! They did a great job of paying respect to the old while clearly making a new movie. Good acting, direction and cinematography that kept you at seats edge and a plot that was MUCH better than we expected and plenty of action. The two actors cast to play the brothers (Jed and Matty Eckert) were very likeable and interesting. The three "new additions" to join the wolverines group later in the movie were a GREAT touch! Exciting and realistic gun play rounded out what every fan of this type of movie wants to see. There is ZERO DOUBT that we will be buying this when it comes out on DVD. But....as serious Red Dawn fans, we just might go see it again in the thearers just for the memories!

Better than the original

Yes you read that right, this is better than the original. I saw the original when it first came out and liked the movie very much. At the time the critics said the same things that all the critical comments are saying about this version. Some of the critical comments about the original were; "Why would the "Cubans" attack Michigan." "Too much unbelievable action." "Needs more story." "Needs to develop the characters more." Yes, all the same things they were saying about the original they are saying about this version. That was one of the first good (not great) action films made. Now we have action films coming out the wazoo and people want to hold this one to some kind of higher standard because it is a remake. Tell me what part of a Resident Evil movie is believable. What part of a Bond movie is believable. What part of a Die Hard movie is believable. None of these action movies are believable. If you like action movies this is a good one with a good story. Worth the money to see.

North Korea (smaller than Florida and total population about 125% that of Florida) invades and wipes out the entire US military in one day. Local teens are the only ones left to defend the entire civilized world with deer rifles and shot guns. Not much dialogue, poor acting but lots of bangs and booms. The screens writers must have been really bombed, LOL.

Not What I Expected

This was kind of a silly movie. The plot was not really that developed or believable. The idea that the North Korean military could successfully invade & occupy most of the United States is ridiculous. I would really like to see the North Koreans try to invade a state like Texas lol The plot never explains how all these Korean military units got into the US - except saying that an EMP & nuclear missile launch disrupted the "entire" infrastructure. It came across as a "B" rated movie with so-so acting & "cheesy" lines. I suppose if you're not expecting a somewhat plausible plot, this movie wouldn't be too bad. I found myself laughing most of the time - which isn't necessarily a bad thing!
