Synopsis

In this unusual thriller from France, an old man (Marcel Fix) lures women to his apartment as part of a bizarre, obsessive project he has been planning since childhood, with only a rat on hand to witness his actions. Le Rat was shot without sound over a period of three years by a pair of first-time experimental filmmakers, Christophe Ali and Nicolas Bonilauri, who previously worked as projectionists. The film received an enthusiastic reception at the 2000 San Sebastian Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
