Rail Yard BluesSynopsis

Two men demonstrate the fine art of passing the time in this gentle Czech comedy. Antonin Jansky (Jaroslav Ducek) and Petr Dvorak (Jiri Vymetal) are two longtime friends who work together in a trail station located in a tiny town in the Czech Republic. The town is the sort of place where nothing much ever seems to happen, and in Antonin and Petr's world, little things take on a great importance -- the station's employees are abuzz over the prospect of a new paint job, and the men are quite impressed when Gabina (Milada Jasova) replaces the old mugs they had been using for coffee and tea. Antonin and Petr have learned to be happy with their simple lot, enjoying conversation with one another and their friends while minding the small but steady flow of rail traffic. However, some excitement of entirely the wrong kind comes into their lives when there's a death in the station's little family. Jeste Ziju S Vesakem, Placackou A Cepici (aka Rail Yard Blues) was the first feature film for directors Pavel Goebl and Roman Svejda. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
