A Classic Shared with a New Generation

This is a beautiful restoration of the original, and delivered in IMAX. I was able to share this with my 13-year-old son, which was a special treat. There is nothing new to be said about such a classic, although 29 years later, I wonder which of the current effects-laden blockbusters would be held to the same level of esteem. If I were to attribute it's status in the genre to one factor, it would be Spielberg's virtuosity as a filmmaker.

Bring back the "TRILOGY" to IMAX

I just saw raiders of the lost ark in the IMAX format. I was moved to tears. Sometimes you forget the inner child and the joy it brings. It's hard to believe crystal skull was made. I think that is where the tears came from. There was such soul in movies at one time, movies that made you believe in the courage of adventure. Where is that soul today? It feels like the light has dimmed to near darkness. Rage against the dying of the light.

    great movie beautifully remastered

of course it is a great movie and on the huge IMAX screen lots of fun and what a great job with the color and sound. Sometimes too good, you know what I mean if you have seen the movie before

Definitely take this opportunity to see this movie

One of my 5 favorite movies all time

the action, the direction, the writing, the acting, the speed, all great. Harrison ford was already a star, but man did he know how to pull it off.

    LieMax @ Tinseltown in Rochester

"Raiders of the Lost" captures the thrill of the serial adventure film like no other. It is flawless in its execution of story and action. Of all the films that one could be stranded on a desert island with, "Raiders" would be first on that list. It's a true American classic.

Unfortunately the IMAX experience was destroyed by LieMAX, a digital presentation that uses two 2K or 4K projectors to show on the large IMAX screen. I went to the theaters hoping to see the 70mm print!! The70mm IMAX print is 15 times the quality!

The registration of the digital projectors was off causing blurry images. The pixels were noticeable around edges, particularly the opening titles. The color was muddy and washed out....the digial projectors cannot handle the latitude of film and made most scenes too contrasty.

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" was shot in Anamorphic 35mm, an 8K equivalent in the digital world. We were only watching 1/4 of its quality enlarged on a giant screen. LieMax =bad

Raiders of the Lost Ark -- The IMAX experience!!

    by

What do you get when you take one of the most thrilling action/adventure films of all time, one of the most popular and dashing stars in history and one of the greatest big film directors of all time......and play the film flawlessly converted to IMAX 31 years a later....You get A GREAT FRACKING TIME!!! This was just amazing and so much fun. I have easily seen this entire film 10 to 15 times...but I couldn't get myself to move out of my seat for the entire film (and I had to go.....you know) because I didn't want to miss one STUNNING IMAX Frame). What a testament to the work George Lucas and Steven Speilberg did 31 years ago That this film blown up to IMAX looks like it was not only filmed for IMAX but was filmed yesterday!! If this comes around again....DON'T MISS IT!!!

    Go see a classic!!!

Still awesome as ever. Good movies are great no matter how long they have been around. Makes most movies out today suck big time. Very few great actors/actresses out there today, just spoiled eye candy.

Had never seen it until now...

I was probably one of the few people in the country who hadn't seen this. As I walked out of the theater, I was saying to myself "what took you so long?" haha it was amazing, one of those movies that was really advanced for its time, and thus i realized that what a couple of friends had told me when i asked them about it was true, it's a classic. Now i'm definitely going to put the whole set that'll be coming out on blu-ray on my Christmas wish list! :)

Raiders of the Lost Ark: The IMAX Experience

Was not remastered which was largely disappointing. The "IMAX" screen just seems like a larger movie screen and does not really get the peripheral vision angle to make it seem like triue IMAX. I will not be seeing any more movies in that format unless it's a true IMAX screen. Waste of money but was still cool to see the movie in a theater and got a cool poster!

    Time Change

    by gyrod76

This was my first time buying tickets with Fandango and probably the last. I bought my tickets for Raiders of the Lost Ark about 3 weeks before the date of the show. The tickets were for the 7pm show on the last night the movie would be playing. I had printed my tickets at home with no problems. When we arrived at the theater a half hour before showtime i was very upset to find that the movie had started at 6:10. I spoke to the manager and found for whatever reason this was the last showing of the night and they had moved the time up so they could show Batman afterwards?? Not sure who to blame the theater or Fandango, but either way i missed the first half hour, which happens to be one of the best opening sequences in movie history. It would have been nice to receive an email with the time change but i did not. The manager did give me a full refund afterwards but that's not the point. Thank you

"Raiders of the Lost Ark: The IMAX Experience" great remastered edition.

    by

For all Indiana Jones fans, or some one who never seen it before this would be a great experience, the movie is classical and amazing, the remastered sound and image is brilliant, for Indi veterans this would be a chance to discover many new details about their favourite franchise, for example in one of the frames a guy eats a fly. For these who have children who never seen Indi before this would be a great oppertunity as well as for total new comers.

    Still a classic

    by

This is one of the greatest adventure movies of all time. It set the gold standard. Seeing it in IMAX made it all the better. Great for kids and adults. It stands the test of time.

    Good, not Great

/Raiders of the Lost Ark/ is a classic, so let's get that out of the way. The Digital IMAX presentation is good, but not great. It definitely isn't as good as film. I don't like that I can pick out the individual pixels at numerous moments. The format really ought to allow for higher resolution if it wants to replace film. And the DLP projection does not provide even brightness across the screen: it is brightest directly in front of the viewer and becomes darker toward the edges. So the movie doesn't look spectacular in this presentation, but it still looks pretty good. It is certainly watchable. And of course, the technology of digital sound has been pretty much perfected; no problems there. So all in all, this is a good opportunity to catch a classic film on the big screen.

I hate snakes, Jock! I hate 'em!

Need I say more? I've probably seen ROTLA at least 50 times, but experiencing it on the big screen (I'm only 26) made it feel as though I was seeing it for the first time. The picture and sound were restored wonderfully! (AMC's "Imax" was actually worth the extra money this time.) All in all, it was a fantastic experience. I definitely recommend seeing this classic in theaters! And if anyone knows if/when Back To The Future is playing on the big screen, let me know!!!
