RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN - mediocre movie. GRADE: C-plus

Written March 13, 2009
Tuesday March 10 - I just attended this 1hr 45mins 're-imagining' of the 1975 movie, Escape to Witch Mountain, which was based on the 1968 novel of the same name authored by Alexander Key. This lack-luster latest incarnation is APPALLING - strictly aimed at the younger demographic - kids and teens. Adults who are expecting a serious intelligent adventure action movie might be disappointed. The re-imagined plot has more holes than a block of cheddar cheese - and the acting by the cast could be improved considerably. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson can't act - period. Director Andy Fickman served up a movie full of cliches - 'been there done that' feeling aplenty. Special effects were average. Note: Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, both played the alien children in the 1975 movie, are in this movie as a waitress and a sheriff respectively. VERDICT: Definitely a rental. Yup! But if you are a fan of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Kim Richards, and Ike Eisenmann - GO SEE IT!

Saw a early screening tonight and disappointed of this movie is a remake ,correct me if I'm wrong. The whole movie I felt like Jack Bruno was the bigger character than the Alien Siblings Seth and Sarah. I hate movies nowadays like this because it has to become modernized like Transformers where Sam Witwicky was more of the focus than the transformers. Seriously WTF Hollywood you suck for this and the government is always involved because they have to know everything and most of the time they become the main villain along with the evil alien bent on world domination gets old real fast. Overall this movie had good acting which i appreciated , but nothing original for me a bunch of good chase scenes and laughs. Again if this is a remake very disappointed and if its just another sequel it did okay. Parents and kids will enjoy this film but if your like me looking for something more and enjoy the old series , it could have done better. I miss the old days of original ideas.

As a follower of the original Disney movies I am very much looking forward to this movie especially with The Rock starring in it. He has added such a great wholesome character to these Disney movies that he has been in, I think it is great! This Witch Mountain movie is supposed to have cameos of the child stars from the original Witch Mountain movies. Those of you who are being skeptical and negative already really do not understand what you are fixing to miss.

This is ridiculous..If we're going to a restaurant and want a review we dont listen to someone whos never eaten there or even looked at the menu, this is supposed to be a place that we gain knowledge rather then read what someone writes without any information other then a trailer and their own deep rooted political/sexual/entertainment views. Listen to someone who has been to the movie...and if theyre giving a review a while before the movie comes out treat their review with Skepticism as there are only a few out there who have been to a preview and others are actual employees from the studio that have seen it and have a reason for it to do well. PEOPLE...if your unsure about going to see this or any other movie wait till after the first day and then come to Fandango, read the reviews and make an informed judgement, after all if we want to be the first to see a movie we're not going to read any reviews before going and if we need a review then we need info not bias, Thankyou
