Underrated. Superbly-acted and directed, very funny--a laugh a minute, heart-warming and true. Why hasn't this film been more widely distributed? Is someone afraid it wouldn't appeal to younger or mass audiences?

If you like these great Englsh actors and actresses and you enjoy classical music, you will definitely enjoy this movie. If not, then you probably won't.

I found this movie to be one of the rare joyful movies since the players were retired singers and musicians. It had moments of sadness redeemed by pure happiness. The performances were fantastic and I would recommend the movie to anyone, particularly those above 25.

What a joy to see a movie NOT filled with violence and special effects... This one is a gem, dealing with the realities of aging, but done with humor and sensitivity. Many involved in the productions were professional singers themselves at one time. Make sure and stay for the credits where they show pictures of these in their prime, and what they were know for.

This is a glorious movie with absolutely lovely scenery and cinematography, gorgeous music, great humor and dialogue, a good old fashioned story with actual plot and a happy ending! What more could you want. Okay, cheaper popcorn but that isn't going to happen. I 'm not sure young people would enjoy this as much as older folks but it goes to the matter of being an oldster.
Dustin Hoffman has always acted in great movies now he has produced and directed one too!
