This is a glorious movie with absolutely lovely scenery and cinematography, gorgeous music, great humor and dialogue, a good old fashioned story with actual plot and a happy ending! What more could you want. Okay, cheaper popcorn but that isn't going to happen. I 'm not sure young people would enjoy this as much as older folks but it goes to the matter of being an oldster.
Dustin Hoffman has always acted in great movies now he has produced and directed one too!

You don't have to be an opera lover to enjoy the interaction between the residents and staff at this retirement home for professional musicians. It's a story of hope when you feel you've lost what you thought was important. It shows how valuable friendships are, how easy it is to misunderstand circumstances and the importance of being able to forgive yourself and others It also makes obvious what we all have in common no matter our situation in life - mortality. I loved everything about this movie. The actors, the music and the beautiful location.

What a rare pleasure these days: a fillm with first-rate acting, writing and direction, about actual people. The multi-generation gap between seniors and teenagers is played with complete respect for both - how often do we see that nowadays? The locale is a delight - I want to live in that house. And there's music everywhere, all the time. A first-rate chamber piece. Highly recommended.

The movie "Quartet" was a pleasure from beginning to end with touching and funny parts throughout . A lovely retirement home in a former manor house set in the English countryside whose residents just happened to have been some of England's finest musicians, vocal and instrumental, during their respective careers. The story included a long-lost love affair revived and confidence and love of their craft renewed. It was gratifying to witness the characters overcame their fear of growing old and not still being a star. Then seeing the pleasure brought about when they were able to celebrate the composer, the music, love and life as a retired person.
Loved it, loved it loved it! There is hope as we grow old and change.
We left the theater with a smile on our faced. Such a charming movie--great actors and performances.
Go see it, by all means! Very enjoyable and encouraging.

Charming story well acted with great musical scenes. Verging on cliche'ed I felt it went for laughs when drama and poignancy would work. Cast was excellent. Well played. I normal enjoy Billy Connolly but this was not a good part for him. I wished that someone other than. he had been cast. Still a nice movie in spite of that. Pity the ending was rather like Billy Elliot,
The location for the movie was perfect. A stately English Country home and landscape. Made we want to be there.
