Beautiful story by Dave Eggers of a very real issue many Americans are facing right now.
Gus Van Sant again directs a wonderful cast and the cinematography is gorgeous. Matt Damon, Frances McDormand and John Krasinski provide honest, moving performances as well as Hal Holbrook and Rosemarie DeWitt in supporting roles.

The talent had little to work with in terms of a screenplay here. Too bad because this film features several notables whose skills were greatly underutilized. This film is pretty much a plain, at times bland, story with a couple of fairly large plot holes. It's not really worth the price of today's evening tickets but a matinee might be a fair exchange. You might want to wait for the DVD, stream or cable. You'll probably be glad you did.

The cast and filming of this beautiful film create a metaphor for American values of corporate greed and materialism vs American agricultural community life and values. One example of the close farming community that must decide if it wants to sell out for fracking by natural gas corporate development is the scene where a young girl is selling lemonaide. She insists on giving Matt Damon his change back from his purchase instead of just pocketing the profit. American farming communities ae vulnerable to corporate greed. There are no shootings , explodings, or violent fight scenes in this movie, so if that is what someone calls entertainment, you won't like this movie. If you appreciate human relationships and looking at values and motivations, with great character development, you will love this film!

This is a sweet and sensitive film about a very important topic. Great cast and a very special performance by Hal Holbrook. So nice to an intelligent, beautiful film that doesn't need violence or special effects to keep your attention!

All you need to know is that Abu Dhabi paid for this propaganda, Damon is a scummy mouthpiece for corporate Arabia. I prefer to see my $ go to hard working Americans trying to support their families but idiot traitor Damon wants to see it get funneled to Al Quaida so they can murder us which I guess he believes we deserve.
I didn't see the movie but I think the only roles that come naturally to Damon are the homosexual ones that he seems to gravitate to.
