This Pathe drama was inspired by the Biblical parable of the same name. Jealous of his industrious brother, a lazy young man demands that his father give him his share of the family fortune. This done, the ne'er-do-well son squanders his riches on wine, women, and song. In a drunken stupor, he dreams of becoming a raggedy swineherd, a dream that becomes a grim reality when he runs out of money.
