I was expecting something along the lines of Cars but that was not the case with this film. There was no plot development or character building. It was WAM! Here is the movie and its about racing. Some of the adult humor was funny but dry as I found myself the only one laughing in the theater. The kids enjoyed the movie. They were laughing where it was due but there were times when they were restless due to the plot slowing down. Overall I would give it 2 out 5 stars.

I am a 50 year old man that took his 9 year old son to see Planes. I am only writing this review because I had read the Fandango reviews before and some of them are so negative, I wonder what they were going to see. This is "Cars esque." It is a cute movie that moves along rapidly, is fun for kids and us adults that don't think every movie has to be an Academy Award winner. My son and I laughed through the movie the whole time. This move does not pull at your heart strings quite as much as Card did, and I for one like that part, as my son did not see his dad tear up in the movie theater! Go see this movie with the mindset on being entertained with your child and a good time will be had by all!

I agree with most of the reviews that said this movie was unoriginal and really not that funny. Planes was designed to appeal to small children that just want to see bright animated characters speaking to each other and moving fast. There's very little substance to the story, and there's nothing written to appeal to a parents sense of humor. With that being said, my 7 year old liked it and my wife said it was "cute," so I realized the important part of the day was getting to spend some quality time with my family.
If I had it to do over again, knowing what I know about Planes, I'd skip it and spend my $35 on Despicable Me 2 again.

This was a huge hit for my kiddos (8, 6, 3, 3) this weekend. Definitely along a similar theme as Cars. However, it didn't matter at all to the little ones. They loved it.

Wait for it on DVD. Don't go unless you have a kid obsessed with planes. I think it has to be our least favorite Disney animated movie of all time. Kids weren't thrilled - kept asking when it would be over.
