Its time to go on another adventure with Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. His zany actions along with Gibbs, Barbosa and several new characters make for a wild ride on the open seas. We meet Blackbeard, the most dreaded Pirate on the Seven Seas, and his Ship, the Queen Anne's Revenge. This movie is standard fare along the Pirates theme. Many characters out for themselves that are thrust into proximity of one another. Each trying to achieve their objectives which are at odds or at least on a tangent to the others. I enjoyed the movie but I did miss Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. With the addition of Penelope Cruz, they gave Jack someone to play with/against but too much screen time was dedicated to these too. Jack just did not have enough cohorts to interract with. Also, the writers turned Jack into a chess master. Gone was his lovelable spontenaity and unpredictability. Every move seemed to have a purpose and reason. Clearly not the Capt Jack we know and love. The movie certainly wasn't as good as the other three movies, but it was still a great experience! It had all the aspects of Pirates that we love: CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow's humour and wackiness, High adventures, magical monsters, the nasty British empire. It just seemed to lack some of the grace and pacing the other movies had, with useless sideplots and a love interest that doesn't seem to fit. Also, without spoiling anything, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. I certainly didn't.
