Pirates is a solidly British chuckle for grownups!
This film is not for everybody - in particular, it's not as good for children as the previews suggest. (My 9-yer-old daughter was bored to tears.) If, however, you love the work of Aardman Studios (think "Wallace & Gromit"), you'll enjoy the level of detail and sophistication in this latest effort. After a slow start, the film moves through some unexpected plot twists and astonishingly elaborate scenery to a delicious ending. It's not often laugh-out-loud funny, but the film delivers smiles, chuckles and the odd guffaw. It's well worth the time and money for Anglophiles.
