Persepholis
I was very curious about this piece. It comes from a graphic novel by the same name, and I have it in my library. As a movie it just didn't work for me. The black and while comic panels needed more on the screen, for me.
I was very interested in the story line but it needed more authentic voices( Sean Penn is too American) and dialogue closer to the natives.
Anyway, just my feelings here.

Persepolis
This movie was interesting in a historical perspective kind of way.....I knew very little about Iran & so if was very informative .....It was also a biography of the author....I thought the animation was wonderfully done. It would be difficult to recommend this movie except for the history buffs....interesting but only limited entertainment.

Persepolis
This was a new experience for me. I've never read a graphic novel, nor have I seen a serious animated movie. Animation might not even be the right term, because that conjurs images of Pixellated characters. These drawings are art. The voiced narrative provided the flow, while the images unfolded, almost as if you were turning the pages, except where the images floated and flowed. The story is compelling on so many levels, especially with the retelling of Iran's history of the past six decades, and the humanizing of at least a certain class of Iranians who have a sense of history and pride as well as a longing for freedom from oppressors of all types. The story reminds us that we as Americans have some responsibility for the state Iran is in now.

Persepolistic!
I was interested to see this movie because of the book. I was a bit put off about seeing it though when I learned the movie was animated.
However, having seen it. My impression of the movie in a word is "Brilliant"
Now, thinking back I can't imagine the movie being as good as it is if it had actual actors. The animations were done in such a manner as to highlight the individual characters and nuances of the scenery that "real life" just can't portray.
There was so much detail and substance to this movie beyond what they eye can see. I plan to see it again and I suspect I will see details that I missed the first time.
I saw it with my Persian friend and it was even more interesting for her because so much of the story was personally familiar to her. She loved it as much as I did.
Go see it!

Go see Persepolis
This movie was very heartwarming and full of laughter, but with an always perceived fear of the unknown future of their country and their lives. The grandmother was priceless. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone.

persepolis
good movie. fell a bit beneath my expectations (ie. main character became more and more annoying as the film went on), but still worth watching. keep in mind that i had monumentous expecations for this movie, fwiw.
