I have never read any of the Percy Jackson books personally so I am not sure what I am supposed to expect on film. However I did read the Harry Potter books before seeing the movies and I never found that the movies lived up to the books at all or were anything that I had imagined.
But back to Percy. I loved the Lightning Thief. I do not want to ruin the second movie for anyone who has not seen it yet, but I did not like how Percy Jackson's hero role was downplayed in this second film. If that is an element that is part of the books then ok. But for movie purposes probably would have been better to keep that out just saying. Certain elements are good for books and movies and other elements are not for the same media just depends on the media to which you are using.
But I would still go see it none the less, the action scenes and story line were good in their own right.

Love it! It was definitely more true to the book than the first in many ways but the portrayal of each of the characters was superb, especially the new ones. And don't cry of Pierce Brosnan being gone Anthony Head was a more convincing Chiron. It was great to sse the old gang back again! Go Percy keep the series alive.

My 13 yr. old and 10 yr. old grandkids and my husband and I all thought it was great! Wonderful for kids and adults alike. But like it was said before, this is a movie not a book. You will be delighted by this wonderful movie with great effects and its good CLEAN fun for the whole family for a great change. I was not disappointed at all and we all had smiles on our faces when we left!

I haven't read the books and didn't have any expectations before seeing the movie. My 7 year old son, however, is a big fan, so I took him. He said this was the best movie he's ever seen, and we're going to see it a second time today. I enjoyed the movie - great special effects and fun character portrayals. My son loved the battle on the yacht scene. My son is on the third book, The Titan's curse, and can't wait for that movie to come out. I would say anyone who likes action adventure films would find it enjoyable.

Although it didn't quite stick to the book, its definitely a must see! The special effects were pretty amazing. I expected to see longer fighting scenes (based on the book). It is very hard to see a motion picture that actually sticks to the written word but I recommend it to anyone who likes action, suspense, mythical creatures and comedy. :D
