This movie is a good flick top watch if you are trying to spend some hours away from your stressful lives and to just get away for a bit. It was not anything special, and I thought it was going to be better, but it was worth the ticket price. It was so-so in my book. It will be perfect for teenagers who love Harry Potter and even for some adults. There are worse movies you can see during the afternoon.

I have read all the books in this seies so seeing it on screen is awesome. We took our two daughters ages 13 and 11. They really enjoyed the movie. So much so that they want to read the books now!! Great job on making it just scarey enough for children to enjoy and come away without nightmares. I give it 4 stars!!

I rated this so-so. For some reason, some of the 'magic' of the PJ series felt like it was lost on SOM. Perhaps it was the fact that he is obviously not 13, nor Clarisse ugly, and Dionysus wooden (set Stanley Tucci free, you dolts!). The largest failure was the choice to depart from the story as outlined in the book. Quick nerd alert for any writers out there; this is always a no-no. If your demographic is people who read the book, do not compromise on the movie! Stay true to the themes which worked on paper.
Add to the fact that the acting/dialogue got a little campy, and you'll find yourself in my shoes; wishing I had seen Red 2 instead.
Mayhap I am looking back at the first movie tainted by rosy-glassed memory; my gut is this was not nearly as well done as 'Lightning Thief'.
The books are superb reading in the YA/Fantasty genre. This second flick simply didn't hold up 2 the 1st.
High point was Nathan Fillion as Hermes. Rent it on DVD, unless you MUST see in theater
