My 10-year-old loved it.

Technology-wise, the 3D was very sharp / crisp, without being over-the-top. Pretty amazing how 'watchable' 3D is now versus just a couple years ago... The movie followed the book closely, and has many familiar elements from the Harry Potter and even Lord of the Rings movies. Still, a very enjoyable 'theater movie' for kids under 12.

If you are uptight about movies sticking directly to the books, then you might have some troubles with The Sea of Monsters. But, I don't....and I thought it was a great movie. Better than the first one! Enjoyed it with my boys ages 9 and 12.

It was a bit corny but the visual effects were great. The monsters were portrayed as realistic and the story line followed a lot of mythic adventures...Even explaining them.

Simply put i was amazed by this film. The story had good character and plot development amongst the action. But what makes this film really shine is #1 the subplot that one person has misconceptions about another person because they APPEAR to be different at the end they overcome their prejuidice.#2 Those who show compassion end up being the heroes. All of this is told in an action packed/humorous/suspenseful way.The 3d is good without being burdensome. This definitely gets an A
