While its not strictly following the books, it engages and entertains for the younger crowd. Lots of fun points and some heartwarming moments, along with enough changes from the books that you keep wondering what is going to happen next.

My 11 and 13 year old boys were in awe! They loved it more than PJ and the Lightening Thieves. Although both agreed the book was still better. 3D was worthwhile.

Movies are rarely as good as the book but this was an entertaining summer movie for the kids.

Nice mythological references, cool effects in 3D

Having not seen the first one yet, I can't comment on how it compares. The characters are likeable enough and the effects and 3D are enjoyable. While nothing super new here, it's enjoyable fare and Greek mythology lovers or D&D fans will appreciate some of the monster references in particular.
