So, this is a heads up to all of you who do not want to be sucker punch for your Christianity. Paul was advertised as a comedy about a couple of Science-Fiction nerds who take a road trip. The advertising and trailers had nothing to do with Christian bashing but the movie goes way beyond the usual Hollywood slap in the face toward Christianity. The first slap comes when one of the characters is represented as a low life, gun toting, Christian fanatic. The sucker punch comes when Greg Mottola represents the Hero of his movie Paul, as a highly intelligent alien who has a deep emotional hatred directed against Christianity. Paul's dialog goes out of its way to evokes feelings of anger and hatred toward Christian and Christianity throughout the movie to promote an Atheism belief. Greg Mottola hides this fact because he knew that fact would hurt his bottom line and that is just wrong in so many ways.

i saw this movie in Ireland when it was released on Valentine's Day. I laughed so hard. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are excellent, and Seth Rogan is, well, Seth Rogan. Great film.

Paul is a movie I really wanted to like. I am a huge fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. "Shaun of the Living Dead" is one of my all time favorite movies.
Paul is not a bad movie. The comedy is often very fresh and unexpected. However, the R rating is richly deserved for an excess of profanity and body humor. Don't get me wrong, I'm a guy and I like fart jokes and upper body humor as much as the next guy, but after a time the level of it here started to wear.
That is not my real beef with this movie. I am not a Fundamentalist anything, let alone Christian. In fact, I consider myself to be a fairly agnostic liberal. Here, I think that the level of hate directed towards anyone who simply believes in god, was uncalled for and unnecessary.
Let me also say before I get flamed that I have an extremely well-developed sense of satire. I understand that sometimes you have to go to extremes to make a point. But I do feel that they stepped over a line.
