None of these segments is anything like the others...

Alexander Payne's "14th arrondissement" along with Tom Tykwer's "Faubourg Saint-Denis" and Ethan and Joel Coen's "Tuileries" are the gems in this hodgepodge compilation of Paris stories. Margo Martindale literally drew a round of applause during opening weekend in my then-local France theater. These make up for the less-compelling and sometimes underdeveloped segments.

    Maybe!

This is an interesting movies, but leaves the viewer hanging because of the 18 vignettes. It left me asking for more substance.

    Magnifique!

This movie is a gem and breath of fresh ingenuity in film making! A superb collection of actors and directors really put together some very entrtaining and human stories all set in various quarters of Paris. The fanciful and poignant stories of people in search of love, comfort, and romance throughout Paris is a perfect example of a movie where whole is greater than the sum of its parts! Probably not a good choice for those seeking the standard Hollywood assembly line action movie with special effects. It's going into our home library for sure.

Do Not Waste Your Time, Or Money

I paid $3 to see this last night and I still wanted a refund. The worst movie I have seen in recent memory. Do not let the trailer fool you into thinking this is a good movie.

    Hmmm.......Amazing

I've always been a fan of foreign films, even since I was younger, this film was directed not only in 18 different places but by 18 different directors, each directing a different sequence of the film, thus adding their own twist, I was quite impressed. As a romance movie and as a movie that there is much to take in, the way that it conveyed the message of the 18 filmakers was astounding. You can't but help to feel "warm" about love, granted the sequences are maybe 8 to 10 minutes a piece, give a few, you are drawn into the characters, I feel, much quicker but still with a sense of personal apathy, than some movies that are 2 hours long, I feel this "thrust" of closeness that is made with the characters forces you to feel for them and oblige to their personality. Each sequence has its own little twist that allows you to ultimately fall in love with the film, I do recommend seeing this movie, and when it comes out on DVD, you will see me at the counter with it.
