Most movies of this type have some adult humor that goes over kids' heads but his one is straight for the teenage/adult crowd. Inappropriate language, innuendo and situations that, frankly, left me with my mouth open. Trust me, I'm no prude and I love a good raunchy film as much as the next person but not with my 5 & 6 year old children in attendance. Keep the little ones away from this one! It should have been PG13. I was kind of pissed afterwards...

I was surprised that this movie was advertised as being for the entire family. From the beginning to the end it was NOT for younger children.

Just because ParaNorman is an animated film, it is NOT for the younger set. It is filled with ghostly characters and creepy situations which would terrify small kids. Take your 9 or 10 year old and expect a delightful story, but leave the little ones at home with a sitter.

Went with 2 children, both 18, and one other adult. We all enjoyed the movie. It had the little kids laughing and a storyline we could all follow.

I went with my pre-teen son and his friend. We all went away thinking "eh, that was o.k.". I like the animation style and in general like "scary" themes. Unfortunately, the plot was weak, the characters were not sympathetic or even mildly interesting. The stereotypical "chubby kid who befriends the outcast" character did not provide the comic relief he was evidently there for; the bully was dull and flat, the sister the typical bratty high school "cool" girl who looks down on her brother...Norman could have been a really interesting character but they made him so lifeless that he didn't seem particularly sympathetic in the beginning or heroic in the end. The other comic relief was suppose to come from the "jock" brother--who weirdly and suddenly declares that he has a boyfriend at the end (not that I'm opposed to that--it just seemed awkwardly placed into the script). Just nothing there to truly laugh at, sympathize with or be entertained by. Dull as the grave.
