There really isn't a point in going to see the 3D because it's not really 3D. There really isn't anything to pop out at you. Maybe a tiny bit. I think this movie taught a really good lesson and it was really entertaining. It was cool how Norman was different than all the other kids and they didn't even understand him. Not even his parents so I thought that was a really good lesson. Even though this is rated PG I think it should be rated PG-13. There was one or too bad words. There is also some other things too. Anyway you should really go see this movie. I went to the midnight premiere, it was TOTALLY worth it.

From the makers of Coraline, ParaNorman also has a darker side that emerges a few times, but it is supports the characters and story well. The movie is solid and the quality of the stop-action and animation is excellent. The character of the father is unnecessarily belligerent and macho, especially at the beginning of the film - the writers help us warm up to him at the end, but this "change of heart" could have been accomplished without the negative personality and attitudes at the start of the film. The school drama coach is a bit over the top and cartoonish, but luckily it does not detract from the overall story. The 3D version does not add significantly to the story, so 2D or 3D are similar.
I would not take young children to see this movie - the scenes at the end with Norman and the witch may be too dark and frightening for youngsters. If you're an animation fan, stop-action fan, and like Tim Burton-esque story-telling, then ParaNorman is a good choice for you.

When I saw the previews I thought this was going to be a kid movie. I am into animation films and I loved Coraline, so I was really excited to see this anyway. I was super surprised at how much content/dialogue was aimed at the older crowd. This movie was awesome and I would recommend it if you're into this kind of thing. A lot of the action is at the end. And it slowly builds up. The storyline is typical, but still intriguing. Thumbs up!

I took my 12- and 9-year-olds to see ParaNorman 3D. I think we would have been just as happy to see it in 2D as the 3D wasn't all that spectacular. It was there, but mainly noticeable in the scenery. Also, my oldest kept asking what it was rated because of the topics discussed, humor and different situations the children found themselves. She felt it should have been rated PG13. Despite all of that, it was a funny movie that took on the issue of bullying and remaining to true to yourself. I would have been just as happy to watch it at home as a rental.
