Outstanding and thought provoking. Forgot it was a cartoon

    by fxpath9

The storyline for Paprika is outstanding and thought provoking. All throughout the movie I really connected with the characters and forgot that it was anime. The development and subplots are well done. Don't expect a packed theater, this one is well above the average American movie goer. If you enjoy good character development and a plot that makes you think a little, then definitely see this movie. You won't even think you are in a cartoon.

    A very cerebral anime

    by Icem0n

For the visual quality, it is most certainly there. However, this anime is much more than the colors on the screen or the voices that are portrayed. The basic premise of the anime is simple. Somehow, through all hubbub, some viewers lost sight of the most basic of life's many messages (and it's going to sound cliche, but for this anime, it's true): whatever dreams you have (or may have had as a child), always live them out for real. That is my interpretation of director Satoshi Kon's latest work.

    Dreamer's Movie

Anyone who experiences our waking life as a dream, just like we dream at night, will thoroughly appreciate this out-there movie.

    Amazing visuals

Paprika displayed an originality and willingness to take risks that is rare in Hollywood productions. But when you take risks some just aren't going to work out. While often thought provoking, the science is hard to swallow at best and results in some strange dialogue at times. Still, the concept is strong, and the characters are complex and interesting. Best of all Paprika manages to be both disturbing and hillarious at the same time. Probably best viewed with a knowledge of Japanese cinema, not for those without a sense of whimsy or those who have a problem reading subtitles.
