Although this movie has "big names" playing the lead roles, it failed to deliver. Labeled as a "Dark Comedy", the comedy parts did not strike a laugh out of me. And I've seen dark comedies before and usually get a laugh. Long story short this movie should be deemed as a movie to watch when you are bored and can't find nothing else to view. This is something to pass the time.

Pain & Gain. Where to begin? Finally getting off his Transformers debacle (hate em or love em) Bay puts himself back in familiar territory with a good old fashioned adventure. Now this is by far his strangest film and easily his best since the rock. Bay has always had a knack for flashy shots, but he out does himself here with full blown beautifull camera work. The Rock and Mark are equally as stunning, with the rock giving his best performance to date. The story is incredibly well paced, going from comedy/hoax to serious/sick. Extremely well paced, extremely well shot, and extremely well acted, I have begun to belive in Michael Bay again. Fantastic movie experience that will likely become a classic.

Pain and Gain is a must see - but probably not for everyone. Some graphic scenes can make it tough for a wide audience, BUT it IS based on a true story - which is larger than life and just a smart move to make a movie about. Having been in this industry for a long time and seen all too many things - I can tell you this story was SO well done about the odd personalities in the fitness industry. But the bigger story is just great. Go see it.

I'm not a Michael Bay fan, and probably wouldn't have seen the movie if I had known he directed it, but I did like this movie. One key point: this is a DARK comedy, so don't expect an action comedy like Wahlberg's "Big Hit" or Dwayne Johnson's "Rundown". The movie made me laugh, and disturbed me. My Rating: catch the matinee. And don't take the kids.
