If you want to see this movie, I doubt you'll be disappointed. If you don't want to see it, I think there's a good chance that it'll surprise you.
It's not revolutionary in any sense, but if you want to go see this movie to make fun of it, it won't let you. It's the kind of movie that takes itself seriously in exactly the right way to make you want to treat it seriously. It's fun, it's exciting and to everyone who says the action is hard to follow, I honestly have no idea what they're talking about. I've seen comparisons to the live action Transformers movies and that is so wrong that I don't even know how to address it. The monsters are all different enough that even in the night scenes, you can tell them apart, the robots all have distinct silhouettes and the fact that the robots are the size of buildings mean they all move just slow enough that you can feel the weight of them and just fast enough so that you can feel the power.

Considering all the reboots and remakes out there, it's nice to have something original in theaters. Pacific Rim gets a bit campy at times but it has passion and heart and tons of effects. Definitely worth catching on big screen!

while not a bad movie, I'll never understand why when you have an action flick they spend half the movie setting up a crappy love story. lets be honest here they could have spent less time with the crying Japanese chick and more time kill giant robots and we all could have been better for it. I went to see a cool monster vs. robot flick, not Shakespeare. cut the stupid science nerds and the silly love story and blow up more stuff. but it was worth the ticket price. just wait for the 3D version to come out on Blu-ray.

The movie was okay. It had awesome fights, great visual effects, and it was very original. The acting wasn't that good at all. I recommend seeing this on the big screen for the visuals and the sound.

Yeah, it's about what I expected. It's a fun movie to watch on the big screen, but I don't think I would see it again. The acting and dialogue were good, with some campiness per the subject matter. There was an interesting plot that wasn't too actiony or too slow-going and scientific aspect was interesting, although the representation of scientists was stereotypical but not realistic.
