special effects worth seeing!

this movie brought me back to 1975 watching Godzilla v.s. Mecha-Godzilla and Gamera( remember him?!) the flying turtle. This movie had me on the edge of my seat and my heart sank when I thought all was lost at the end. I have seen it 4 times just to relive the moments and I'm regretting not seeing it in IMAX: which is truly the only way to appreciate the jaegers and kaijus. I read a lot of complaints about the acting and the plot.... but for people like me who go to see sci-fi movies for the special effects.... this movie did not disappoint.!! I hope there is a sequel, I am definitely in- even if it's just to see the special effects.

What I expected

Yeah, it's about what I expected. It's a fun movie to watch on the big screen, but I don't think I would see it again. The acting and dialogue were good, with some campiness per the subject matter. There was an interesting plot that wasn't too actiony or too slow-going and scientific aspect was interesting, although the representation of scientists was stereotypical but not realistic.

The movie was okay. It had awesome fights, great visual effects, and it was very original. The acting wasn't that good at all. I recommend seeing this on the big screen for the visuals and the sound.

Giant Robots Smacking Giant Monsters FTW!

Considering all the reboots and remakes out there, it's nice to have something original in theaters. Pacific Rim gets a bit campy at times but it has passion and heart and tons of effects. Definitely worth catching on big screen!

could have been better

while not a bad movie, I'll never understand why when you have an action flick they spend half the movie setting up a crappy love story. lets be honest here they could have spent less time with the crying Japanese chick and more time kill giant robots and we all could have been better for it. I went to see a cool monster vs. robot flick, not Shakespeare. cut the stupid science nerds and the silly love story and blow up more stuff. but it was worth the ticket price. just wait for the 3D version to come out on Blu-ray.
