What Transformers could have been.

I love this movie! Full of action, dialogue and a story line that isn't a slice of swiss cheese. Michael Bay could take a lesson from this movie. No horrible pop-music, pop-culture references, awesome score, animation, acting, etc. I have seen it twice so far. I will be buying the 3D Bluray when it comes out. Great emotion and casting. All thumbs up!

The Good: Pacific Rim is an action packed ride with an interesting concept. The robot fighting is far more cohesive and easier to follow than Transformers. The touch of Japanese culture and mech material is felt through out the movie. The art direction is beautiful and is worth an IMAX 3D ticket. The Meh: This movie breaks no new ground. The plot is extremely predictable and echoes almost every other invasion movie that came before it. The Bad: The acting and character development are both not worthy of having Guillermo Del Toro's name attached. Pacific Rim could have used less heavy handed "acting" and more monster/robot battles. There are also a lot of plot inconsistencies The Verdict: A visually stimulating, intense action flick that is worth a watch, but its concept and execution would have been better off as an anime or manga. There is a scene in the middle of the credits If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!

If you're looking for an Academy award winner, you may want to look elsewhere... BUT, if you're a fan (like me) of the sci-fi genre, of movies like Starship Troopers, Transformers, Jurassic Park and formula-driven big blockbuster special effects movies... Your jaw will be dropping and you'll find yourself erupting in laughter at the corny lines and cheering LOUDLY w/ the rest of your fellow movie-goers when the action scenes light up the screen... Simon "Spiderzero" Lee's Kaiju creatures are amazing in detail and the CG is sweet. Definitely worth the price of admission - yeah IMAX 3D!!!
