Pacific Rim was Made for the IMAX screen. A movie about giant robo's have to be seen on a HUGE screen to feel and appreciate the impact. great summer flux.

This is the movie of my child-hood dreams. The plot had holes like swiss cheese and some of it was so corny I had to cringe, but who cares! The robots and aliens, and the relentless, sweeping, skyscraper crushing battle scenes had me grinning from ear to ear from the beginning to the end.
If you liked transformers or voltron as a kid, you have to see this.

Only philistines will not love this movie. It manages to be ruthlessly artistic and incredibly fun at the same time. To me, this like another Fifth Element or Matrix.

The acting is horrible but the action scenes are amazing. "Charles" from "The Office" once again is "pretty good" in a sci-fi flick (Prometheus).
We watched it in IMAX 3D which didn't really work since 3D gives the illusion that the screen is smaller than it is and the volume was way to loud during the action scenes. Lots of nice 3D effects though.
Might be too scary for kids under 10.

Do not let the naysayers sway you. Firstly, ask yourself, "Did I seriously spend $12 on this movie because I wanted a deep, emotional experience?" if your answer is "yes" than you probably need to borrow your mom's movie collection or stick to the dubbed, art house films complete with very little dialogue, music score or decent pacing.
For those of us that refuse to kid ourselves, you can expect the following: State of the art creature design and animation, gargantuan sound and score, epic big boss fights that will BLOW YOUR FREAKING MIND!!!
Again, DO NOT go in there expecting Citizen Kane. This, it is not. To some, there's too much exposition, others will cry, "corny dialogue". Whatever, that's not why you're seeing this movie and you know it. Thank you Mr. Del Toro for letting us remember THE FUN we experience watching movies.
Accept the movie for what it is: A knock-you-on-your-ass,feast for the senses that reminds you of your love for epic-action movies.
