I haven't seen an IMAX movie since Middle School, and I graduated High School 3yrs ago. I have a friend that saw this, and he said it was a really good movie. I had a few extra dollars, so I decided to watch it in IMAX (why not, right?). I have to say, never before has a movie kept me on the edge of my seat for so long, that I eat 2 large tubs of popcorn by myself! The experience was AMAZING, and the movie...... Well lets just say, I wanna do it again!

It was original, visually outstanding and was paced (action and plot) well. It was the best time I have honestly ever had at a movie. I saw it three times. Once in normal and twice in Imax 3-d. I've never gone to see a movie more than once before. It just hooked me.

Reading some of the negative reviews, it's clear that some people expect way too much from a movie about giant robots fighting giant monsters. Sure, the characters are a little one dimensional and the storyline is somewhat predictable. On the other hand, it's one of THE BEST MOVIES I HAVE SEEN IN YEARS. Totally fun, totally over the top, totally spectacular.
I love a good intellectual and aesthetic challenge as much as the next guy. But you can't have Blade Runner every day. For straight sci fi & fantasy eye candy, this can't be beat... especially in IMAX-3D mode. Forget Iron Man, Transformers, Avatar, etc. Pacific Rim is the new standard for this kinda movie.
Also: Charlie Day steals the show. Always Sunny fans will appreciate.

Giant robots vs. giant monsters. Really that says it all. Yes, parts of the plot are very predictable. Yes, you can see things coming from miles away. Who cares? This movie is so much fun: the effects are cool and believable, the monsters are terrifying, loud, and violent, the heroes act cocky and testosterone-laden (yes, even the women).. and the comic relief bits are funny, scary, gross, and applause-worthy. Watching Pacific Rim in 3-d IMAX is like having an anime feature come to life all around you. Go see it.
