Monsters are taking over the earth, humans assemble and go to the rescue. Yes the plot is that thin, but the story, special effects and acting is very good. Its a must go

One giant ear-shattering explosion

This movie was one giant ear-shattering explosion. The characters were paper-thin, lots of macho posturing with angry words spoken that you couldn't possibly understand or care less about. I love blockbusters (superman was great, Star Trek was great), and I love Del Turo. But this movie was crap. A few isolated moments of cool special effects, but not enough to save this movie. The volume was annoying and alienating and you could get excited about cool explosions because they were one after another from almost beginning to end. Stay AWAY from this one! Or rent it and fast forward to the cool stuff. Don't sit through the witless dialogue.

Absolutely fantastic special effects. Will certainly go and see again. Be sure and wait until credits are finished or you may miss a hilarious re-entry of a character!

Wonderful visual experience. Exciting to watch. Believable reality. Robots have weight!!

I won't get into all the details of the movie as there are other reviews that I think perfectly describe the movie itself. What struck me in this movie is that despite probably half the movie (or more really) being computer generated I really believe what we were seeing was real. The attention to detail is astounding. Frankly, I can't wait for the blu-ray so I can analyze each scene in detail. This is a movie that requires multiple viewing just to appreciate all that went into it. Everything has weight to it and when you are working with robots this big and this heavy it needs that. This isn't transformers where things the size of small building whip around like they were made of tissue paper. Unfortunately, they don't give you a lot of space here but the human element isn't lost either. If I were 10 or 11 this would be my Star Wars movie. Biggest complaint - many of the scenes are in rain or dark. Would have liked a few brighter scenes. Over too soon!

I finally had a reason to go see a movie in 3D again! The film was awesome; action packed and left me wanting more. The story line was good, easy to follow and believable. The graphics were superb, stunning and extremely fun to watch. Over all I would give Pacific Rim a 10 for entertainment, 10 for visual effects, and a 10 for story line. I hope they do not remake this film, it cannot be done successfully.
