FIrst of all, this is a great IMAX 3D movie. The visuals are stunning, the 3D is some of the best I have seen in any movie to date. Combine that with the size and sound of IMAX and you have a great movie experience!
However, the movie itself lacks substance. The character development is very shallow and it tends to play down to its audience. Although I guess if the target audience is under 15 it makes sense, but there are some parts that I wouldn't want my child to watch (scary). There is little audience participation required to watch the movie, which makes the movie feel shallow and forgettable. This is just my opinion, but if you are looking to watch a very visual movie go see it. However, if you are looking for a movie with character and substance, I would wait for this to come out on Blu-ray.

Any Oz fan should go to this movie. No, I was not stunned or astounded. However it was beautiful, humorous, faithful to the original, and well cast. James Franco made a wonderful young Oz. Mila Kunis is touching even though this is unexpecting

I was expecting more. Not sure what but just more. Apart from that the movie was great, it light, funny, sweet, interesting, well acted, nice visual effect, and all around a nice easy going film. i feel like Mila should have been on the movie more and it was a little rush after the Oz goes to kill the "wicked witch" and then it slows down again but apart from that everything was good.

The graphic portion of the film was everything genius could possibly be - truly. I happened to see this in IMAX 3-D which I think really showed off some of the best scenes in the movie. However - the acting in the film was very, very poor. Franco carried the team throughout the entire film - all of the witch characters relied heavily on their looks.
One very unfortunate 'feature' of this film was the need for them to scare you to death with absolutely no reason as to why. A good 'gotcha' here and there in any film definitely heightens your emotional attachment to it and such - but this movie just went for some very poor scare-the-crap-out-of-you moments several times which actually didn't help the story at all, it actually almost confused you because you were so shocked they went there, it would take you a minute to resolve what was going on again to stick with the story. This is an OZ movie for sure - the basic storyline was there - but not really meant for the typical OZ audience!!!

OZ The Great and Powerful was a must see in IMAX 3-D. The land comes to life in the 3-D version. It is well acted. The cinematography is excellent. The storyline is very believable in this prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Special effects make this movie. I would recommend anybody over the age of 13 to see it. I feel that there are some parts of the movie that are not suitable for younger viewers.
