it has beautifull color display but the acting and the story is not that great. eventhough it is a movie based on the Wizard of OZ, still lacks the magic of the original movie. I was expecting more action between the witches and the Wizard of OZ. If you just want to relax with the kids at the movies then i guess this is the right movie, but if you expect something similar to the original movies, you might not be impressed with this one.

We loved the film mesmerized from start to finish!! James Franco is nearly equal to great character acting like the phenomenol Johnny Depp. He was perfect as the Wizard with that twinkle in his eye!! The rest of the cast were also excellent! Oz should win the Oscar for Cinematography and Special Effects which were utterly amazing! You felt like you were actually on a Disney ride in some of the exciting scenes. Highly recommend seeing OZ in IMAX Theater- worth the extra bucks and thrilling ride feeling like objects or scary creatures were in your face. The film is for family and adults!! Definitely one of our favorites films ever.

OZ The Great and Powerful was a must see in IMAX 3-D. The land comes to life in the 3-D version. It is well acted. The cinematography is excellent. The storyline is very believable in this prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Special effects make this movie. I would recommend anybody over the age of 13 to see it. I feel that there are some parts of the movie that are not suitable for younger viewers.

The graphic portion of the film was everything genius could possibly be - truly. I happened to see this in IMAX 3-D which I think really showed off some of the best scenes in the movie. However - the acting in the film was very, very poor. Franco carried the team throughout the entire film - all of the witch characters relied heavily on their looks.
One very unfortunate 'feature' of this film was the need for them to scare you to death with absolutely no reason as to why. A good 'gotcha' here and there in any film definitely heightens your emotional attachment to it and such - but this movie just went for some very poor scare-the-crap-out-of-you moments several times which actually didn't help the story at all, it actually almost confused you because you were so shocked they went there, it would take you a minute to resolve what was going on again to stick with the story. This is an OZ movie for sure - the basic storyline was there - but not really meant for the typical OZ audience!!!

I was expecting more. Not sure what but just more. Apart from that the movie was great, it light, funny, sweet, interesting, well acted, nice visual effect, and all around a nice easy going film. i feel like Mila should have been on the movie more and it was a little rush after the Oz goes to kill the "wicked witch" and then it slows down again but apart from that everything was good.
