Oz The Great and Powerful was great movie! Great cast (James Franco is wonderful as Oz/Oscar Diggs). The story is also very good with some thrilling moments (The Witch's transformation, the flying baboons, Oz's arrival). My favorite character was Finley as he bought a lot of humor. I also loved how the beginning was in black & white and then into color. With wonderful 3D, wonderful cast and characters, and a wonderful story, Oz The Great and Powerful is a great beginning to The Wizard Of Oz!

My 6 year old daughter and I loved it! I honestly don't know why people are giving this movie such a hard time? It was magical, funny, and WICKED! We found ourselves laughing, crying, and even jumping with fear! What more could you want?! I def wouldn't recommend it to small children though. 6 years and up

I saw this film in IMAX 3D. When I saw the first part of the film, I thought that the film was one of those films that wasn't really made for IMAX but the theatres just wanted to make more money. I was pleasantly surprised when the film got to the second part because it took full advantage of the IMAX 3D experience.
This film is the prequel to the original Wizard of Oz as it traces the story of Oscar, a carnival magician who gets away in a balloon when he crosses (accidentally) the Strong Man. He gets caught in a twister (like Dorothy did in the original Wizard of Oz). The IMAX journey begins when he arrives in Oz and traces the story as how he becomes the Wizard of Oz and how the other characters came to be.
The acting was great, the 3D experience was awesome and there were some parts that can make you jump out of your seat.
There were some parts that, I felt, would be too scary for kids under the age of 10, but, otherwise, it's a good film for the family.

One would make the assumption that an actor that can act against a green screen must really know their craft. But that doesn't hold true for Oz The Great and Powerful. Saw it in IMAX 3D and while images were stunning the plot was terribly slow. James Franco was not great, or mediocre as Oz... He was flat and stiff in his characterization. Mila Kunis seemed to be in a trance until she became green, Michelle Williams was "too good" to be true and Rachel Wiez wasn't mean enough or scary enough to be wicked witch. Overall I would say wait til this comes out on the Disney Channel and save the $$$

It was interesting, just not what I expected. I wanted something more suspenseful then what they did with the movie. I also did not love who played OZ.
