Entertaining with very good 3D, but forgettable

FIrst of all, this is a great IMAX 3D movie. The visuals are stunning, the 3D is some of the best I have seen in any movie to date. Combine that with the size and sound of IMAX and you have a great movie experience! However, the movie itself lacks substance. The character development is very shallow and it tends to play down to its audience. Although I guess if the target audience is under 15 it makes sense, but there are some parts that I wouldn't want my child to watch (scary). There is little audience participation required to watch the movie, which makes the movie feel shallow and forgettable. This is just my opinion, but if you are looking to watch a very visual movie go see it. However, if you are looking for a movie with character and substance, I would wait for this to come out on Blu-ray.

I was expecting more. Not sure what but just more. Apart from that the movie was great, it light, funny, sweet, interesting, well acted, nice visual effect, and all around a nice easy going film. i feel like Mila should have been on the movie more and it was a little rush after the Oz goes to kill the "wicked witch" and then it slows down again but apart from that everything was good.

it just okay.

it has beautifull color display but the acting and the story is not that great. eventhough it is a movie based on the Wizard of OZ, still lacks the magic of the original movie. I was expecting more action between the witches and the Wizard of OZ. If you just want to relax with the kids at the movies then i guess this is the right movie, but if you expect something similar to the original movies, you might not be impressed with this one.

Oz is an Entertaining Film to Get You Through a Time Where There's Not Much to See

Oz the Great and Powerful is a entertaining movie that provides stunning visuals, but won't blow you away with powerful, believable acting- which is okay. The so-so acting doesn't bring down the movie much, since the visuals and the storyline are enough to bring you satisfaction after paying the hefty fine for viewing this in IMAX 3D. This is a great movie in relative to the movies coming out this time of the year, so its definitely worth a gander if you're having a boring weekend. Also, its pretty kiddie friendly too- so take the whole family if you're considering it! GOOD MOVIE, go see it!

I have no interest in OZ at all. But I know disney come thorugh with effects and James Franco is likeable and Mila Kunis is crazy hot. It was pretty good, and for me to like a pg movie means alot. Solid story and great effects. The IMAX really made it pop.
