I will be the first to admit I'm not a huge Oz fan. But, I thought the special effects looked promising, so decided to see it in IMAX . The movie was okay, but I don't think I could say the same if I'd seen it in a regular theater.

I loved the graphics and all the bells and whistles. The storyline could have been better. The witches power wasn't in her necklace in the original wizard of oz. it was in her ruby red shoes that the farmer chick landed her house on. The wizard wizard was less than expected. I was hoping he would somehow be great and powerful, but all he wanted was some ass. The final scenes of the movie was good though. If you loved the Wizard of OZ, you must see this movie. I just wish they would have followed the original storyline more.

The CGI, stunning, and 3-D unlike I had ever seen before. China Girl, was my fav character in the movie, and she deserves an Oscar for her performance. I fell in love with this adorable, little orphaned child made out of china, right down to the clinking sound she made whenever she blinked or moved her joints.
I must also mention the comedy in the film took away from the story line, and cheapened the movie a bit. I don't mind a little creative humor to captivate the audience, however, it became a bit corny, and distracting after awhile. It was sort of akin to what Scary Movie, was to the original Scream movie.
Michelle Williams, was by far the best actor in this movie, and believe she carried the other character's weaker performances. I would have liked Glinda, a little more glamorous, and regal as was the original Glinda.
Mila Kunis, as WW of the West-disappointing.. She wasn't believable as a WW. Her face-- too round, and voice sounded like she had a sinus infection.

Loved it. My wife and I took my 7 year old granddaughter and were a little nervous that she would freak out, but she loved it. I did have to explain some of the plot to her, but she came out of the theater talking a mile a minute about how she especially liked the 3D effects and how much she hated the wicked witches. Will see it again and hope there is a sequel. Return to OZ.

Following on the "pre-heels" of the Wizard of Oz, this story follows a similar path with how the lead character finds themselves in the end. Amazing 3D and visual effects! James Franco fits the Oz persona perfectly! A must see and it makes me want to re-watch the Wizard of Oz to pick up on all the subtleties placed out by this movie.
