A powerful adventure of the heart!

This film surprised me with its depth, deep emotion, great acting, exciting and compelling story. I honestly can say that my eyes "leaked" a few times or yes, I cried. I also exulted in excitement and enchantment and was surprised a few times, even disturbed, because the film does not spare us from the true nature of humans which means you feel the sadness, fear, jealousy, hurt, yet exultatation and excitement of the journey and some special moments of good, hearty, honest laughter. The special effects are dazzllng and totally work to tell the story. Now I know how the wizard of Oz came to be and I am glad for this worthwhile telling of his story, along with some shocking and revelatory moments regarding the 3 witch sisters, too! Go and see it: feel a myriad of emotions, be touched and don't be ashamed to shed a tear or two and be dazzled!

This is a movie great for kids. They will be happy to see it. As for Disney, I think they missed a wider audience opportunity with this brand. Too bad cause I know there were about a dozen books about Oz when I was a kid. Too low in the age demo, bored to tears, wanted to walk out,

A Hot Poker in the Eye is More Intertaining

Was really looking forward to seeing this movie since the first first trailer came out. With great anticipation my wife and I entered the theater, found our seats-the movie began. Very slow to start-seemed to get less exciting as it progressed. The best part of the film was hearing the little kids laugh in unison at the funny parts and scream at the witch. The real best part was when the credits were scrolling on the screen-and I hate scrolling credits. I was excited at the promise of this movie but I believe the leading role (James Franko) could have been played by a better actor like Paul Reubens or James Galdafini (can you feel the sarcasm?). The $20+ for the tickets and the overpriced popcorn and coke (which I must have) would have been better spent at a roulette table-which is where it will go next time. Wait until the movie hits the $1 theater then don't go. If you borrow it from a friend when it comes out on video...then that may be the time to see it-but I doubt it!

I really enjoyed watching. Great story to lead into the Wizard of Oz. Lots of comedy including a little dark humor, but not so intense that kids can't watch.

An Overpriced Underwritten Waste Of Time. If you're into a gimmicky 3D special effects laden movie, then Oz is for you. But if you want magic and the story and the chemistry, then save your money for a real movie. 3D effects and 1D story. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. PLASTIC CORPORATE GIMMICK. NEXT!
